I just received "Serial's" '79 Hamer Sunburst. I had a Hamer Special back in 81 that was a nice guitar. I've been playing mostly Historic Les Paul's and a '56 Tele nowadays. I wondered how the Sunburst would compare to a really nice sounding '57 Historic loaded with Tim White's famous PAF's (yea, the 2 year wait guy) Now let me say this. I've been playing for 30 years, I know how it is when you get a new/used guitar. At first you love it, then after a few weeks you're looking for something else. I've been through that. If a new guitar doesn't cut it SOUND wise, I'm on to the next one. Looks are not important to me at this stage of the game. I have to say even my wife noticied how nice the Hamer sounded when compared to the Les Paul. The LP has more high end than the Sunburst. And, this is BIG, the Hamer REALLY gets that note blossum that we have all heard but rarely ever find. Really a great guitar. Steve was great to deal with. Did everything he said he would. The only thing I can compare this Hamer to is some really nice Vintage Gibson's I've been lucky to play. It's a keeper!
