  1. I've wondered the same thing about the longer scale models. I'm guessing that eBay listing was for an Artist / Studio and not for the longer scale Monaco, Monaco III, and SuperPro. If I absolutely needed a case I'd do the tear drop thing above.
  2. More switches than a Gretsch... I've never played one. The do look cool.

  4. Can you give me a call in regards to the PRS Custom 50 Amp 307 331 1424.

    Thanks,

  5. Very cool guitar. If Hamer would have done a headless version of this guitar this would be the ultimate travel guitar.
  6. I agree 100% I also like transparent finishes. I'll take a transparent finish any day over a solid color. If it's a solid color I want white. You might not be able to tell by the picture but the white is solid the other 3 Fenders are transparent finishes. The studio has a solid black back. That's one mistake Hamer did with this finish. Hamer used some of the nicest mahogany I've seen on their guitars. It's a shame they covered it up.
  7. As far as I know it's Russia or China. Who else makes tubes? I wish we still made them in the US. I'd loose my finger in the press if I had to do that for a living. Ouch!
  8. It looks to me like he wants a LP and he has Hamer's to trade. I'd trade a Hamer for a LP but it would have to be something nice. Not the baked maple or laminate rosewood finger board crap. I was looking at the following 2012 Traditional on ebay. It looked like a decent guitar at a decent price. I did some research and found out all the 2012 Traditional's have laminate rosewood fingerboard. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-Les-Paul-Standard-Traditional-2012-/171491018962?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=8Ky%252FxUdzH2sMLOkf27%252B73aMjqDE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc I sold a LP Studio this year and to tell you the truth it was the best sounding 24 3/4 scale guitar I've owned. However everytime I looked at the cheap plastic inlays and the ebony finger board with ridges that looked like it came right out of the planer with no sanding it made me sick. I've owned nicer China made guitars than that Studio I owned. I don't know how they stay in business.
  9. I sold all my turntable and vinyl 10 years ago. It was all in mint condition. I'm probably one of the few people that like CD's. MP3's are ok on a portable device but I don't like them on the home stereo.
  10. Eventually my MIII pickups will be changed out. I have new pickups just waiting. I will install quick connects when I do it so it will be easier down the road if I want to go back.
  11. That's a nice guitar but I'm out way out. If I owned it I'd be afraid to play it and it would sit in the case. I just sold another Artist Custom this year and have another one left that's mint. My guitars need to have a few flaws or blemishes so I'm not worried about dinging them when I play. I picked up an American Ash 8502 Tele for cheap that dropped on the pavement. Those are the kind of guitars I prefer.
  12. I wonder what the tone difference is between CU22 and the Hamer Monaco III. Is the CU22 the standard PRS 25" scale? I was snooping around your photobucket site a week ago. You own and have owned some nice guitars.
  13. I'm not in the market for a Standard, but when it comes to Hamer guitars I agree. I don't see this kind of wood used on Gibson's.
  14. I guess snooze you loose. I just got a call from a guy from down south who wanted the serial number off my Les Paul. He said he's calling the Les Paul Factory tomorrow and if the serial number pans out he is going to buy it. I really need to sell that Les Paul. I'm still somewhat interested though. However I don't know why I'd want another ugly black Hamer Seriously the transparent gray is not bad. But the back is solid black. I also own a Black Ovation Legend. Solid black shows every little scratch and imperfection. The transparent gray part is real nice even with a rosewood finger board.
  15. Do you mind saying what you sold it for. I have no quibbles about rosewood. I'm not too fond of those tuning pegs, are those stock? I'm just wondering what it's worth?
  16. This must be the most unpopular Hamer guitar right now. These things have been popping up every where. I just got my red MIII one a week ago, I love it. These things are a 10 on the cool scale. I'm mostly a Strat player but these things sound nothing like a Strat IMO. I like the PU positions 1, 3, and 5 but not so much the quack positions. The pickups are too hot for my taste but I back the volume down to 80% and they sound real nice. I can go from a Strat to this guitar and it fits like a glove. Not so with my Artist or Studio. The scale difference messes me up on 24 3/4 scale guitars. If I have to start selling guitars the MIII will be the last to go... Eventually I want to buy a Super Pro. At that time the Studio and Artist may go down the road. I wish Hamer would have made this same red MIII but called it a MII with humbuckers. There's my plug for the night.
  17. I hopefully have a MIII showing up this week. With shipping it was around $1350. Mines arriving with a slight flaw in the head stock. I'm guessing your price is right on. I'm looking forward to the 25 -1/2 scale, I'm not sure about the P-90's. I think its just finding someone looking for the guitar you're selling. 2 other guitars I'm interested are the Talladega and Super Pro both 25 1/2 scale. I've only sold 2 Hamer's over the last few years and I've regretted it every time. I bought a guitar last fall and though I should sell something to make some room. I posted and Artist Custom, 3 to 4 months later I get and email someone wanting to buy it. I completely forgot I had it posted. While I'm thinking about it my wife just happens to tell me she wants a new piano. So I thought, yeah I sell it to help pay for a piano. I email the person back that I'll sell. The next day I realize I don't want to sell the guitar... I ended up doing the deal anyway... Then the next day after I sold it I get another email from another person wanting to buy the guitar. My point is for 3 months no one was interested.
  18. I'm not a fan of quilt tops either. However that blue one is making me change my mind. Wow!
  19. You don't know what you have until it's gone. I don't like hording instruments. I sold one of my Artist's earlier this month that did not get played that much. However there's an ugly feeling in my gut knowing I'll never pickup up another guitar with that kind of quality for what I sold it for. The other day my wife told me she wanted to sell her 1987 collectors Ovation because she is mostly playing piano now. I told her there is no way that guitar is leaving our house. As far as Hamer's go I'm down to an Artist and a Studio. The only Hamer I'd be interested in at this point is a Super Pro or Telledega. Like someone posted "It was fun while it lasted". For me personally there is no way I'd pay over 2 K for a guitar in the current market. Huber's are way out of my price range. If Hamer did start up again they would have to be priced just shy of the Huber range. Too spendy for me. I've been looking at used PRS's lately. I like the thinner body and smaller fret board radius. I like the sound of Gibson's and the 12 degree radius but don't like the sticky feel of the finish. Unless it's an exceptional deal I'm just gonna lay low.
  20. I sold him my 96 Mint Honey Custom Artist Saturday $1200. He is one happy guy. He wanted the early version. I offered him my 06 for $1500. It was one of those things I did not want to see it go but I had two of them. I know I'll never touch that kind of guitar again for $1200.
  21. That is correct, because the country of orgin is the United States
  22. I never cared for Prince back in the 80's. I think he had movie too. I made a statement while watching the movie with my date. I can't remember word for word what I said but I'm sure it was politically incorrect. Looking back my date must have been a big fan of Prince because she never talked to me again after that night. I never gave her or Prince much thought after that. However in the last few years I’ve had to acknowledge that Prince is quite the guitar player. My feeling about Prince has never changed. Even though my date was a nice gal, if I knew the the gal's email I'd send the the news clip to her and say "Remember Me"
  23. If I recall we were talking about tube amps such as the early 5e3 Deluxe Fender Amp. At the time I was fairly new to tube amps and was in the market for one and the subject of Fender amps came up. My co-worker went on to say "there was nothing special about the early Fender amps. They broke up early because they were built cheap. Leo Fender's mo-to was build it as cheap as possible and sell it as high as possible". Whether or not Leo Fender said this I don't know. However I have since read an article on the early 5e3 style amps and how they were the cheap line of amps that Fender made. Parents were buying there kids these cheap amps and kids were cranking them up to get the PA distortion. The article went on to say how the sound ended up shaping the music style. Again I never new Leo Fender. I was just repeating what I was told by a co-worker who was way more musically talented than myself and has more music experience then anyone I ever knew. I will say I tend to believe the statement more than I would dismiss it. The fact that Fender is dumping Hamer would also kind of support that idea in my mind. I must be crazy to be thinking these thoughts...
