killcrop
I just got a Studio and the pickups didn't sound quite right. I took off the cavity plate and there has been some wiring mods done. Not sure what the purpose of the mods were, compressed the sound too much. I've looked at the schematic on this site but I'd feel a little bit better if I had a pic to look at. I'd like to get this back to stock. Can anyone help out?Also...This thing has SD 59's in it. The clean solder leads look like they are factory wired. I thought the Studios had a JB in the bridge?THanks in advance.

serial
My guess is that someone rewired the guitar "out of phase". When both pickups are on the same volume, you'll get that squashed compressed sound in the middle position. When you roll back the volume on one, the pickups return to normal. It isn't true out of phase wiring, but it has that effect that Hamer used to wire in stock on their 2 hum models.
