I posted this on the original HFC board, but I figured why not repost here...

After seeing the New Monaco Bass at HFC 7 and waiting until the official unveiling at NAMM, I am happy to report that I have brought home a beautiful example of a Monaco Bass.

This has been an exciting few days at out house since Carmie scored her Standard, and now I've taken delivery of the '59 Burst Monaco Bass pictured below from the good folks at Flynn Guitars.

This is a close view of the cool chicken-head knobs. From this angle, the flame top is very subdued...

This shows the full view of the bass. The flame top is still looking tame...

Now move in from the player's viewpoint and...WOW!!!

One last view from the top...

The bass sounds as good as it looks. The tone is full and clear. I'm really liking this bass.

What do the chicken-head knobs do?  Volume, tone, & pickup selector?

The knobs are Volume, Volume, and Tone like a Jazz bass. So far, I like the Neck pickup on full, the Bridge pickup rolled back about 1/4 turn, and the tone mostly to full up depending on the amount of treble I want. This setting seems to really bring out the bottom while still being very clear.
