Submariner85
Not a bad list. I don't know about Cat Stevens though. I remember he had some really sappy songs when I was a kid.
Steve Haynie
The R&R HoF makes performers buy tables at their big induction ceremony. Wanna bet Gene made sure they do not charge KISS anything?
Hamerica
Gene will buy the table then turnaround and sell each seat with a Kiss package. Gene doesn't lose money - ever. Hamerica
mc2
Actually.....Cat Stevens is probably the best songwriter out of the entire list, IMO.The guy was HUGE is his day, until he flaked and dropped out of the music scene.*Mod Edit - keep religion out of it. Thanks.
Steve Haynie
Cat Stevens may be getting in because he influenced other songwriters.
Submariner85
He was a good songwriter for that style of music. Just not my taste.

diablo175
Glad to see Peter Gabriel is on there. My votes would be for KISS and Peter Gabriel.
jwhitcomb3
Not much of what I think of as "Rock 'n' Roll" on that list.
DaveL
I feel it would be a great honor for the rock and roll hall of fame to have Kiss in it.

cynic
Now the debate can start regarding what members of KISS will be inducted.

mc2
So....since it seems Jan Wenner blinked first and finally let KISS in, might that mean he may eventually do the same and let Cheap Trick in?Or will that be a "whomever outlives the other" situation? While I've never been a huge KISS fan, I do believe that they definitely should have been inducted years ago based on their catalog and history. Gene is possibly the most savvy marketer in the biz. I would bet that if you held up photos of 100 various bands that KISS might be the one the most people of various generations could I.D. LordOfTheThighs
I was telling my wife tonight, that it's a more exclusive club, of who ISN'T in the RARHOF. I mean who'll be left to induct in 10 years?

jwhitcomb3
A kick in the teeth for Yes fans I was a big Yes fan in the late 70s, and even saw their Tormato tour in the round. But Rock 'n' Roll they ain't. But many of the previous inductees don't pass that test either.
dragan
Also a Yes fan , this sort of seemingly arbitrary selection of whos in whos out and the evetuality that everyones in anyway is why I give the R&RHOF an exrtemely large MEH , PFT ,WTF who cares . saw Yes open for ELP on the tarcus tour .
