Boneyard Metal. Links to albums by obscure 80's bands

Recommended Posts

I used to have a video called Shockwave that was a concert of unsigned Scandinavian bands from the early 80's. How it ended up in a small town in Alabama is a mystery, but I used to get stoned and watch it, and then repeat again again and again because it had so much personality. Here is a great website that has a few hundred albums from bands like those in the Shockwave video, the bone-yard of early 80's metal. This is where I finally tracked down Lions Pride's album. Thought some of you might want to check it out. Most are probably better than the signed band from the late 80-'s and earlier 90's. Hundreds of links to obscure heyday metal bands.

I dig that Lions Pride song. Is this their album:

?

It doesn't contain the song in the video -"Free Rider".

That's it, but this sing is not on it for some reason, maybe they didn't make another album?. Something about those earlier free expression years of the early 80's that I will always like. Thanks

Well, you know what? I found the original VHS for cheap! It looks like this was actually published here in the US -I'm right now in South Beach. The bands seem to be all from Belgium. I'll make me a DVD copy once I'll get home. This is stuff I absolutely dig. :)

That's super cool. The whole video is good music and humerus too, but it's Heavy Metal before it was put in a box, It just seeps of character. Really glad someone else on here appreciates it, flaws and all.

I'll get to buy one of them there DVD copies when you get it? Rock on!

A buddy of mine turned me on to New Haven, CT's "Obsession". Their singer, Mike Vescera earned greater fame singing for other groups after he made an impression belting out Rob Halford/Michael Sweet screams for these guys.

If I watched this as a music scout, he would stand out. Great range, even a little dio hints, and he has very distinctive looks. The band is good, he is top notch.

It was probably wild to be the most promising band of a eastern city during the metal years. I suppose it was harder to get noticed with those constantly watered down bands in LA playing the clubs.

I always liked this band from Detroit, Seduce. They were just a little too late, but definitely better than say Pretty Boy Floyd.
