wkhoury
Hello everyone, Does anyone know what type of wood the body on this MIK Hamer Californian is? Reading online, it seems like they made them out of different types of wood so I was hoping someone can recognize the wood grain on it from the picture. Thanks! Toadroller
Looks very maple to me. That era Korean Standards were maple. Here's my sample:

wkhoury
That's what I originally thought but I'm not seeing the typical flamed maple look like the one Toadroller just posed (nice guitar by the way!). Or am I wrong and even if it's maple it doesn't necessarily mean it has to have that flamed pattern?

Normally when someone references Maple it's just plain unless they're referring to "figured" Maple such as Birdseye, curly or Flame... there are so many varieties of maple in itself... figured maple is primarily used for aesthetic reasons "flame Maple necks are more prone to twisting"... here are the 4 most commonly used Maples ^^Plain^^ & Birds Eye below ^^Curly^^ ^^Flame^^
