Pieman
This looks like a bit of a mutt, but lately I have been musing on a Bigbsy-equipped guitar. Somehow this one is speaking to me. The Bigsby looks pretty primitive. Anybody ever play one of these? They are from the late '60s / early '70s. Thanks in advance. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Excellent-1968-SA-50-Yamaha-with-Gibson-Duncan-Bigsby-electric-guitar-RefNo-478/173069913936?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
RobB
I'd just be aware of the guitar, period. If you're looking for a Bigsby-ed electric on the cheap, there are plenty of better options (new and used) for well under a grand. In fact, Yamaha makes some cool retro solidbodies that have Bigsbys. Reverend, Eastwood, Ibanez, there are many choices.
Sam
Stunning! Bet it has an interesting tone. I've got an SA from the later 70's - incredible instrument, but unsure if the really early stuff is on par.

hanspanzer
Lot`s of mods on that particular guitar. This is how it`s supposed to look. I`d rather buy this and put a Bigsby on it: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Excellent-Yamaha-Semi-Acoustic-SA-700-SUPER-AXE-Guitar-RefNo-55712/182994022069?hash=item2a9b4b2eb5:g:RaoAAOSwu-BWPvXg
Pieman
Thanks for your thoughts and advice. Hanspanzer: thanks for the link to the sharpenedflat website. Good info there about this model and others he sells. Later models did have the wooden pickup surrounds. I actually am leaning toward the mini-hums in the one now for sale. Coil tap for as a splitter? No pickguard is okay. Bound f holes, top/lower binding. It is a mutt but who knows. Will think this over but interested in more comments. https://www.sharpenedflat.com/vintage-guitar/Yamaha-SA-50-0200 https://www.sharpenedflat.com/vintage-guitar/Yamaha-SA-50-0119
