polara
On 2/19/2018 at 4:18 AM, Brooks said: I wish I had insisted on sax and not been pushed into clarinet back in 6th grade. That's eerie. In 6th grade I wanted the play sax. Dr, Heinlein said "Sport, we don't let middle schoolers play sax." "But I really want to play sax!" (Because if you're going to play in middle school band, it's the sexy instrument.) "Sport, if you're first chair clarinet at the end of the year, you can play alto sax next year." I was playing sax in 7th grade.
mudshark
Have fun doing what you do and don't worry about. I'll never accomplish much of anything musically, but I sure as hell have a fine old time not accomplishing much of anything. This old quote always kept things in perspective for me: We are always more anxious to be distinguished for a talent which we do not possess than to be praised for the fifteen which we do possess.
