Bosmitch
I'm spending the next 5 days in and around Reykjavik. If I have a little bit of time, I wanted to stop in a guitar store to get a bit of local flavor. Can anyone recommend a good store to stop in? Thanks! kizanski
Yes. There are a number of 24 hour Björk fashion outlets.
polara
I know a good record store. http://www.12tonar.is/ They used to serve coffee with alcohol (I think Brennivín) when artists would do in-stores there. I played there ages ago. This is a pretty good site to see what's happening... https://grapevine.is/
HamStd
I saw a couple of music stores there, but didn't get a chance to stop in there (might have missed that Virtuoso or Mandocello.....) . B Wrong time of the year but Reyjavik is beautiful and so open. Plus the Northern lights are truly amazing. Peter
Disturber
Did not see any music stores when I was there. Reykavik is a SMALL town. You can walk around it in like 30 minutes or so. Do some nature trips instead. There are some cool bars, and a few good restaurants.

I just read that there is a place in Hawaii called Nānākuli. I guess Iceland would be the Nordic Hawaii, haha. Even though cold, barren and wind struck. An island far out in the north Atlantic that had viking settlements. The Icelandic language is very old. It is spoken by less than 400 000 people. And it sounds ancient in a very cool way. I hardly understand a word. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icelandic_language Leif Erikson (c. 970 – c. 1020) from Iceland, a viking, discovered America 400 years before Columbus made his way there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leif_Erikson So don't laugh at the Icelanders, one of them could be your relative from the viking days. Bosmitch
Thanks guys. I was here 18 years ago and, man has this country changed. We helped destroy their banks, but they have replaced all that lost GDP with tourism, which is huge there now (a nation of about 350,000 people that has gone from 200,000 annual tourists to over 2,000,000 in the last 10 years). Surprisingly, even with the surge of all the obnoxious tourists, the people were still just as friendly as I remember 18 years ago. But it is no longer "value" travel. Everything was so ridiculously expensive. Hotels, restaurants, tours, etc. oh, and mission accomplished...
