Shipping tales - URGENT UPDATE!!!
ZR replied to santellavision's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I used the U haul version of pods to move my mom out to Georgia from California 15 years ago. It worked out well. She had fragile black lacquer furniture with all the very intricate inlays she brought from Korea years ago. With our careful packing (and I guess they didn't drop any of the big pods while moving a few thousand miles) everything arrived unscathed. I too would not trust anyone with guitars, artwork, computers and guns/ammo on our move to NC. Those were all packed into our own vehicles. So, move them like that, rent a u haul trailer for that stuff or pods for the important stuff. -
Oh I know. My wife still rocks out to Scorps, Y&T, Dream Theater, Rush and Buckcherry. So, she wasn't a complete poser! π

That's great! I played that song for my wife the other day. She didn't remember it. Almost makes me think that girls back then pretended to like our rock music just to get boyfriends and future husbands. But they wouldn't do that right?

Amp/effect modeling rigs - live or memorex?
ZR replied to mrjamiam's question in Ask the HFC Experts
I think it depends on what your priorities are. Every time I've found the best sound ever with a modeler, in the box etc. I plug into my Zinky MoFo tube amp and tell myself what was I thinking, THIS is the best sound ever! But, it's getting so damn close nowadays and truth be told I mainly play guitar through my DAW with software stuff. Lately it's IK Multimedia Tonex, especially the series of 3 EVH eras, each from the 2 albums of the first 6. They are available as pedals as well. I also use NAM which is free and just updated. The digital stuff has been easier for me to get a good quick sound recorded, and it's fun to so easily change everything about it after the fact; amp, cab, mic, position, and everything after that too. Here's some info to check out for the new free version of NAM. You can use that technology to make your own captures of tube amps, pedals, studio gear etc! But, there are already so many available that are awesome! Introducing Neural Amp Modeler (NAM) Architecture 2 (A2) -
Ah, but It's like, how much more white could this be? And the answer is none. None more white

Loved April Wine! Loved a lot of albums and songs, from Roller which was a real rocker, to I like to Rock... always loved the end where they played the Satisfaction riff, in a round with Daytripper and other parts of the song on the fade out (if memory serves me correctly!). I even liked them all the way to The Nature of the Beast album with their biggest success on the charts. I thought it was interesting to have Phil X playing with Rik and Triumph, another band I liked, but it made more sense to me when I found out just yesterday that Phil took Riks place in Triumph around 1992-93.

My '89 is like that blue headstock above. Looks very hockey stick to me... Like one the Carolina Hurricanes would use!!! π€© I never really cared for the Cali headstocks as much, but liked everything else about that model. Although, the only Cali I ever owned I got rid of mainly because I thought my Chap sounded better. The older 24.75" scale versions always looked really cool to me. I wonder if they sound a little meatier, aka Gibsonesque compared to the longer scale?
-
I'm certainly not an expert but my '89 Chap Custom w/ trans. red all-flame body, set neck, boomers etc. looks a lot like the top one. The bottom one looks to me like a short scale (24.75") version. The mid and top one look like long scale, 25.5". Not sure of the years on the lower 2.

They did a nice finish on that one! π

Hey, how's your recovery been going? I do hear some people in similar situations do feel a burst of extra energy afterwards. Was It like that for you? -
Man, I thought for sure that album cover would get at least one like from you aging geezers! I guess I'm 62 going on 16 but it's still one of my favorites. I like Scorpions... and tits too! I guess you guys don't. π

Well, we had a great visit with my long time friend. He did buy the IC chips and MOST the other parts but we couldn't buy the few he didn't have from an electronics store because they were closed. Yes, apparently they still have those at least in silicone valley (and I'm not talking the San Fernando Valley, as if!!) We did play guitar, drink beer and go on a nice motorcycle ride so all was not lost! I got to ride his Triumph Speed Twin 1200 which was nice but smaller than I thought. I'm 5-11 but felt cramped. I hadn't ridden for maybe 5 years after selling my Ducati Monster. I took care of my mom back then during her last years so my riding time stopped. I found it hard to believe it had been 5 years! Will be getting something new fairly soon. He also gave me an EVM 12L speaker in great shape which will replace the Celestion 12T-75 in my Canadian Thiele Cab. That's what those were built around as I understand it. Someone had given it to him and he gave it to me. Score! Anyone here make that circuit?

Well I'm not ashamed to admit I liked Krokus for that era. Yes, I just set myself up for the next reply to be... Well you should be!! Anyway, was there a better time to like them, like when they started Europe's answer for an AC/DC cover band? Yes, l listened to them then too. I think the Scarab is a cool shape. I'd play one. And, at least Krokus was playing an all Hamer lineup when they were an actual successful brand. They did their part but Hamer management didn't. There's no reason with all the cool rock/ metal type guitars selling out there now that they couldn't have a nice chunk of that market still, but I digress by beating that dead horse! The video is typical for the time; hot chicks, bad acting, and stupid costumes. What's not to like? π«£ππ
