  1. Some of us need to collab and write the "Askin' Ain't Gettin' " (Theme from Reverb) song.

  2. I respect your perspective but the person who bought Zorrow’s will have it in his hands within a matter of days or whatever he and @zorrow worked out. It is a beautiful guitar and I think the buyer is a lucky dude.

  3. Anderson is as much of a "humbler" as Danny Gatton, Roy Clark and Roy Buchanan were. Highlight of the first guitar show I ever worked for VG Magazine (Atlanta 1990) was a jam session with Steve Morse, Jeff Berlin and Anderson. He's one of Kentucky's best kept secrets

  4. ... at least at my home: Recently I discovered this beautiful neon sign (not LED!). I suspect that it is from the 80s or 90s. I even had to buy a step-down transformer to be able to use it. Amazing that it survived all these years unharmed. With more than 40 Hamer guitars in my collection, it seemed to me to be the cherry on top. I hope you like it too.

  5. Well I'm not ashamed to admit I liked Krokus for that era. Yes, I just set myself up for the next reply to be... Well you should be!! Anyway, was there a better time to like them, like when they started Europe's answer for an AC/DC cover band? Yes, l listened to them then too. I think the Scarab is a cool shape. I'd play one. And, at least Krokus was playing an all Hamer lineup when they were an actual successful brand. They did their part but Hamer management didn't. There's no reason with all the cool rock/ metal type guitars selling out there now that they couldn't have a nice chunk of that market still, but I digress by beating that dead horse! The video is typical for the time; hot chicks, bad acting, and stupid costumes. What's not to like? 🫣😉😄

  6. Aren't they supposed to say, "Duncan Designed?"

  7. Changing "Short" to "Brief" is even worse for those of us who misread and think it's about stage attire.

  8. Nope but our vocalist does wear shorts to most of our appearances. The HFC Attire Police have not yet shown up to make arrests or write tickets.

  10. Some people aren't true Hamer Fans and have lost money on investments instead of playing their guitars.

  12. Despite having the aggregate gear, talent and work ethic of a legit, gigging band, my current line up won't or can't do legit 3 set-gigs. Instead, we have to settle for 1 set opening slots with other bands, featured set appearances or 3- 4 song sets at open mics. It ain't so bad. True, we don't get paid BUT load in/load out is stupid simple, my gear can be carried in one trip and doesn't break my back, PA & sound is always provided, I am in no danger of forgetting parts to 3 - 8 songs and I'm in and out and home in +/- 1.5 hours and get a full good night's slumber. Win. Did an open mic last night where we followed the house band and got to do 4 songs, all of which featured my C3- Checkered Cali Custom. Behold...

  17. I can do the Tommy Boy 'Fat Guy in a Little Coat' bit in the XXXL windbreaker I have and I'm not that big. My medium-size wife wears it over a hoody no problem. They run waaaay small.

  23. Two in 2025, to my surprise...wasn't palnned at all. A 1978 Sunburst and a 1980 Special, both in very good condition (the Sunburst had changed tuners at some point). They are the oldest guitars I have now. Everything Fender form the 1960s long gone and I don't think I will ever be able to afford one buying again (love the 1960s Jaguars with matching headstocks).

  24. Yeah, I am right there with you. I owned a 1980 Vector and stupidly sold it 20 years ago. Was always on the lookout for another, and they just don't come up with a sunburst flamey bound top. So last spring I found this Lashing and bought it. Like you, I really like how comfortable it is to play. And lightweight! Here's my old '80 and my new Lashing.

  25. So a friend of mine is seling a Hamer Special in red. Someone gets in touch who has a couple of 80s Specials himself. Turns out he's someone I sold a b&w Hamer Special to a couple of years ago. And then I find out he recenlty bought a 1980 Hamer Special in opaque blue with a MATCHING HEADSTOCK from the first owner. I tell him to get get in touch should he ever consider selling it. Guess what, now it's mine. It wasn't cheap but it is in great condition, has had a fret dressing, has a nice medium neck, plays and sounds great. I believe the paint is all original, no undercoat, no other paint in the control cavity or under the trussrod cover). The body contour is slightly different to my 1981 Hamer Special, the lower cutaway less pronounced, so cool, I love it!

  26. So I have been here 20 years and have been playing Hamers since '78. It's been a minute since I had an NHD. Picked this up from Don yesterday on my drive down to Portland. Won't be home to plug it in till tomorrow night, but have been playing it in my hotel room, and this guitar is AWESOME! Not too bad on the eyes either. Thanks Don!

  28. I have owned both the Newport and the Newport Pro. Sold the Pro 15 years ago and wish I hadn't, still have the Phat Cat guitar and it's awesome. I remember that at higher volume, the Pro with the Seth Lovers could go into feedback easily. I have not had that experience with the Phat Cats, but I don't play at high stage volumes like I used to. Just my 2 cents. Also owned a custom 3 pickup model for a short time, which was more of a jazz guitar.

  29. I think you should give the Newport a try. It can't be more hollow than hollow. It can really sing.
