  1. Recently got a line on some old Honduras Mahogany, so I took a ride and found some massive blanks that had been buried at the back of an old barn. Love it when I find these old treasures.

  3. Two things: 1. It's actually 0092, not 0093. There was a slight mix-up early on. 2. I have a FedEx tracking number.

  5. I think you’re right. The camo pattern is exactly the same. I added more light to the old picture and put them side to side. Judge for yourself:

  6. At least its a logical explanation.

  7. Lovely garden. It’s a shame its on the back of a guitar.

  8. I got a very clean copy of the Guitar Player mag which contains a picture of a guitar that seems to be my camouflage Vector. The painting schema is exactly the same (they call it “combat finish”), but the pickups are different. Nonetheless, it does look like the same guitar... or so I want to believe. 😉 Thanks to those who helped me to find the magazine!

  9. It isn’t the same guitar. It has a sister. Jol wrote this on the Hamer FB page:

  10. I’d rate it about the same from warmoth for the body work and cnc shaping and sanding. Plus you get a set neck which they don’t offer. I think the woods are of a higher quality at a better price point than warmoth. I’ve had warmoth and USACG stuff in the past. Id say the fretwork is a bit better for the precision guitar kits also. You do get a lot more options through warmoth, like nut width, scale, headstock shape, and more. If you have the skills, I think a PGK could give you an equivalent quality guitar of a nice usa factory set neck guitar, vs many of the other cheap kits out ther

  12. OK, I know about early Clapton and Gibson, but for all intent and purposes, Clapton is one of "the" Strat guys. I think he's way more badass on a Gibson still though. 80s over processing aside: And later just into a Fender Tweed.

  13. Not exactly unknown example either, but damn Ritchie was pretty mean on a 335.

  14. I actually like the way Clapton and Bonamassa sound a lot more when they switch it up, though if I remember correctly, didn't Joe start really getting known as a Strat player? Jimi played SGs from time to time.

  15. Roy Buchanan with a Les Paul. It's just wrong.

  16. I disagree that it's not the same guitar. Jol states they were hand masked and varied in pattern. If you look at the five bits of yellow, they appear to be identical in shape and placement. I believe the brown has faded considerably and it's the same guitar.

  17. Jol says that he believes the lady in the picture bought it. Her name is there. It shouldn’t be too hard to locate her, though she’s probably a gramma now —we are 39 years after that picture. It might still be interesting knowing where that guitar ended up. It’s still a cool story the sister of my guitar is on the mag, right?

  18. Sorry to see it confirmed, but that is a very cool story straight from Jol! I wonder if you could find the other one and own them both. Now THAT would be something!

  19. Found this in the garbage. I initially thought I’d strip it for parts. But a friend of mine told me they are incredible stereo amps. So I rebuilt it. I don’t have a clue what I’m going to do with it as I have a great sound system, but I enjoyed bringing it back to life!! I’ve only played CD’s thru it, sounds incredible with great speakers!! It’s a Dynaco ST-70.

  23. The Warmoth looks to me like an accurate Seafom Green (originally a 1956 Buick color) and they are probably buying base coat from a manufacturer using that code, probably TCP Global. That Gracy's is close but I think it needs the pigment formula tweaked if you want it to match, ambered clear isn't going to push it in that direction. Warmoth's topcoat is water clear and stays that way.

  24. On the cheap I think the DiMarzio Model P and Ultra Jazz bridge combo is pretty great. Having a hum-canceling J bridge position is really nice for P/Js- the best way to go IMHO. Since my name came up: All pickup builders cut their teeth on Fender coils and I'm no exception there an have an incredibly deep well of experience and knowledge with all of those. I've been at it for 20 years now. As for bass pickups, I'm a career bass player/musician myself so when it comes to bass pickups, my ears are especially fine-tuned and focused and since there's no shortage of basses across all makers at

  25. Just to give an update, the guitar is complete. Just waiting on the case to send. She came out ridiculous. A picture of perfection and it sounds meaty. #radicalinstrumentproducts #ripcustomguirars #customhamerscarab #hamerscarab.

  26. http://markrevel.bandcamp.com/album/8-track-cadillac My new solo album is out now. Here is the Bandcamp location and the title track for you to check out. It is on Spotify, ITunes, YouTube Music, etc., etc. I have a small run of CDs coming and will post in the FS forum when they arrive. I did everything on the album except for harp and some BGVs. Heavy blues and blues-rock. All originals. Hamers, 0006, Lovepedals and various Marshall, Lil Dawg, & Mesa amps.

  27. Ha, that pic looks strange, him with a strat. I saw a pic of Jimi with a Gibson, can't remember if it was an SG.

  28. Gorch, I was the one who scanned the magazine pics for you before you evidently acquired a copy. Man, I hate to rain on your parade but other than similar (not exact) paint on the upper wing, that doesn't look like the same guitar at all. Yours is still really cool though.

  29. Interesting no one knows, it was available since the 70s. Here it goes: https://www.ebay.com/itm/analogis-clean-Nassreinigungsarm-Fluid-Ersatz-für-Lenco-clean/352228763649?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 This link has a 2nd picture showing how it works. https://www.conrad.de/de/p/analogis-clean-plattenspieler-reinigungsset-1-311488.html The effect and advantage is the liquid removes antistatic, reduces friction by half and plays noiseless. No crackles and sizzles from dust or dirt.

  32. Bartolini. You're welcome. Actually, Fender or SD pickups will work too. I know what you mean about EMGs, they're kind of 'techie' sounding. I have Bartolinis (PJ) in my Kinal 5 string. It's heavy and the scale is 35" and it sounds like YOU DON'T FUCK WITH THE BASS PLAYER. Look for YouTube videos before you buy. Barts may be a little dark for your taste. Or not.

  35. Might want to check with Mike before posting what "you hear" his lead times are. Some people have had to wait longer because they put orders in before he was tooled up or ready to work on a particular model, and other people put orders in for guitars that hadn't even been prototyped while he was working on the original Ultimate run - people knew that their guitars wouldn't be able to even get started until the 50+ Ultimates were all finished.

  36. I don’t think the soon to be owner of this beauty is on the HFC, and it’s too cool looking not to share -it’s an amazing chunk of maple and man, the flame really popped on it. I can’t wait to get a couple of clear coats on and get it buffed -it’s gonna be one killer looking axe ?
