  1. I can't believe I once owned these Hamer's, and a few more that didn't make the photo. At least I still have the '81 Special on the bottom right...

  7. Sure it does; a few, in fact: "I've give you $350 for it." "Needs a Kahler." "Minty fresh" "Jol said 'no'." "Intonation is for pussies." "It was a good day..." ETA: "I think Peter (HamStd) owns/ed that one." ETA, the sequel: "Blue guitars sound better."

  8. I'm really surprised that the tree fiddy offer hasn't crept up to at least four hunnerd by now, Steve. You know, inflation and all.. 😉 I remember the early days of the Fan Club, and all the people that were offended by the inside joke. Good to see that there are still some of the old school Hamer guys still around.. Here's a better pic for you..

  10. I think Robert Godin actually gives a shit about the quality of the guitars that come out of his factories. While not all of the designs catch my eye, I have yet to play an instrument made under his name that wasn't built with attention to detail and an emphasis on quality. I recently picked up a small bodied Seagull acoustic for plucking on in the living room, and while I detest the headstock profile, the damn thing has a build quality that I've not seen on any other guitar in its price range.

  11. Nobody who owns a PRS like that ever gigs. He once went to a blues jam, but he didn’t play because the house rules prohibited him from using his 36” x 24” Klon-and-Strymon-loaded pedalboard. Without that, he just can’t into the right groove to play Red House.

  16. "Hamer Special USA 1980 - Black RARE 40 YEAR OLD GUITAR. Condition is Used but in fairly good condition. Few nicks and scratches as shown in the picture. Playable condition. Shipped in padded box with UPS Ground." Translation: Black Hamer Special from 1980, I think, so let's go with that because IT'S 40 YEARS OLD!! Condition is used but in fairly good condition, which is vague enough, I guess, considering "fairly good" is open to about a million interpretations, so...yeah. Few nicks and scratches - hey, I said FAIRLY GOOD! - what are you, a lawyer or something? Look at the picture

  19. As far as 'slot head' vs. 'Phillips' head screws go, Phillips screws were introduced in the early-mid 1930s, and caught on fairly quickly. Gibson Guitars started using Phillips screws instead of slot head screws around 1937, for whatever reason Fender used slot head screws until the early-mid 1950's. Why? Maybe Leo got a better price on a bulk order of slot head screws, or maybe he was stubborn about using them. All I know is that they're a PITA on guitars, especially if you're trying not to gouge a guitar with a slot-head screwdriver while working on it. Coincidentally, Fender started ex

  22. True, but will Mexico pay for it? OK, just kidding. Steve's correct; over time, you'll find plenty of offerings on the For Sale page to fill those wall hangers much the same way it was years ago. Now...what's the story on that green Special with what appears to be a plugged neck pickup rout? ETA: Checked the photo again on a larger screen and whilst wearing reading glasses, and now I see a black/black humbucker in the neck slot.

  25. What did the artist use as a model? Sylvester Stallone for that arm (leg)? I hope his other creations (non-guitar) are better received. I will second GuitarGuy65 re the Santana model. Even better with the rosewood neck, IMO.

  27. First listing's in Japan, I'd bet the "seller" doesn't even have that guitar, they're probably just doing the Japanese "middleman" thing that seems to be way too popular on Ebay anymore. The second listing isn't even worth acknowledging, IMO.

  28. sent him this; Nice guitar. But only 38 years old. Any chance you could send me copies of messages and comments you get about the guitar? I'm sure they are hilarious. Thanks Doug P.S. when and if you get around to listing this with a realistic price feel free to contact me. I would be interested at market value.

  29. This guy's description is hilarious, although is English is much better than my Russian. "I live in a guitar world for more than 15 years ..." This reminds me of the dream that Homer Simpson has where he lives in a land of chocolate! This line is my favourite, though. "Dings and dongs all over because it was used live. " I heard that Ratt had a lot of groupies, but I didn't realize that most of them were dudes.

  33. Richard Williams of Kansas played a PRS Dragon regularly in concert for several years. He is the only person in the world to actually play one of those high priced collectibles. So, is it worth more for being owned by a somewhat famous musician, or worth less because it is no longer in unplayed condition?

  34. I love me some PRS guitars, they are IMHO the best production guitars available today, but I'd never pay that much for a stand and as mentioned it does look like a toilet seat on the bottom. I'll pass... That Tiger Private Stock guitar is hideous too, but hey if you've got the $$$ they will make you whatever you want. Taste has nothing to do with it and I've seen several other PS guitars that made me cringe. That said, my PS is a Santana model that is drop dead gorgeous and sounds/plays amazing too! 😎

  36. I know this guitar very well. First, want to mention that that spot by the bridge is in the finish only. There isn't a structural issue. For those that have owned or closely observed a Miller guitar and the sustain block bridge area have seen the same issue with the finish. Neck-wise It isn't a skinny neck at all, has the feel of an '80 Sunburst. It is not the "vintage cut" from the 90's-2000's but it is definitely not an '81 Special skinny style neck. Peter
