If people are comfortably well off I wouldn't suggest them to dump real vintage for vintage clones,
but there's people (like me), who live sorta hand to mouth but still hang on to investment-worthy pieces
I say let the stockbrokers have them 'cos they'll keep them in real nice shape for an...
Might be an idea to sell any vintage Fender or Gibsons for half valuation...buy an MJT to replace your Fender, and a nice Hamer for the Gibson vibe.
Then dump any valuable amps and buy a Ceriatone or similar clone cheap
make sure you've got a few tasty acoustics in case there's no electricity...
Plus the good thing is, thieves won't steal it if it's ugly...they'll take the sunburst SX!
I think I'll customise my Phantom when I get it back from the headstock graft
The shape of the guard on the upper horn sorta annoys me
I thought it might be cool to put a minihumbucker in the neck too...
I think as far as electric guitars go, the Avraham Bar Rashi wooden guitar
has the least parts of any. The frets are one piece of fishing line,
and the bridge is just 6 allen key posts
I'd like to be able to play Zappa's "The Black Page"
not exactly a solo...but a difficult written piece
Mike Keneally and Vai can do it...why can't I?
I can do it on xylophone, though
I played in a Zappa tribute band and learnt a bunch of Frank's solo's
my faves are Inca Roads, Zomby Woof...
Nice Guild, cmatthes....good score!
The opposite happened with me...when I got together with my wife
I gave her my '88 Maton Messiah 12 (but I still get to play it...heh)
The Maton is quite amazing....best 12 I've ever played
Other acoustics...Gilet 00-45, Gilet deep-body Dobro, and the wife...
Hi Tom,
I sold my spare Mutron III for AU$550 a while back....I'd been offered AU$1000 for it
(Chaka Khan's bassist) previous to them being re-issued, which I stupidly declined.
They were sought after by funk bassists, but Zappa used them a lot on guitar.
Most people turn the Peak control up...
A sunburst one just sold on eBay for EUR $1035 (AU$1662) whatever that is in US$
It only had the stock Schaller pickups
Makes this blonde cutey look like a real bargain
BTW Tom, nobody bid on my Parker, so I'm still skint
Hoy Tom,
Sorry I didn't get back to you on this one, I twisted my back 3 days ago
No-one's bid on my Parker either..
I can barely sit at the computer at the 'mo...in agony
bumpity bump...someone buy this guitar!
Or even better, make Tom an offer on both of 'em....(I'd like to do that...heh)
Hoy Rockola, sorry I didn't see your post before, I ended up on the next page
Regarding those Wiggles guitars...Maton revived the MS500 shape in the mid 90's
It hadn't been seen since 1962..in fact Maton stopped making electrics altogether
between 1980 and 1995..except for maybe their single...
Well, we hold the guitars the regular way....
but if we want any chance of airplay in the Northern Hemisphere
we have to learn to play our licks backwards...
otherwise they come out all funny on the US airwaves
We also have to plug our guitar cords into the amp BEFORE we
stick 'em in the...
