It's worth adding that none of these solutions will solve the problem of soldering all of the conductors, only to realize that you didn't put the barrel piece of the connector onto the cable first.  I've made hundreds of cables and I still do that from time to time. 

I have some something similar, but I mount the opposite sex connector in the block of wood. 1/4" jack in the wood for soldering 1/4” instrument cables- insert plug into jack, solder cable to lugs.  It makes more of a difference with XLR, as the jack can serve as a heatsink. The pins get hot...

Each day, the learning continues.  All the Newports I've played or owned had an electrosocket jack.

Looks like the output electrosocket Jack has been replaced. At least I've never seen a Newport with that oval plate.

I'll say this.  I could easily forgive her for a LOT.  Way more so than most, including for that song.   But the decision to destroy dude's GT500 is a grievance I can't abide.
