  1. Hmm. Okay, any sincere responses?
  2. I posted this in the thread about the crowned SS1 but... What's a reasonable price for a crowned SS1?
  3. Oh, was that me? Na, I always brought my own gear to the shows no matter what. did we share a gig together?.... Who knows, Jay, coulda been you. But likely you were playing better venues than me. We played smaller clubs, some out in the middle of no where, or some that were @ good sized venues but had "exposure shows" i.e. they were poorly drawing nights (Mondays,Tuesdays & Weds.) and they would pay us a % of the door take. Which, for us, was like 3 dollars- Then, there was the final, inconsequential item of: we sucked. Still didn't dissuade other bands from wanting to borrow shit, though.
  4. I guess I've interpreted this from the context of: how would I react to having one of my beloved vintage axes f-ed up in that manner? There's certainly been no shortage of A-hole rock stars with f-ed up, rock star behaviors. That's never gonna change. My beef is on the level of taking ANY man's (or woman's) guitar and treating it that way. I guess that's why I don't lend my gear to anyone unless I know them personally. Have rubbed a few feathers the wrong way because of my policy but that's too bad. There was a time out in Seattle in '89, and in the early 90's around here, when my band would be doing double bills with other bands (or worse, a Battle of the Bands ) and someone from another band would always wanna borrow something- a cabinet, a cable, a tuner, a wah pedal, strings, etc. I drew the line at amp or guitar. I could afford to replace anything else but not the amps and axes.
  5. Pretty much what I said, Greg. Glad I'm not the only one who feels this is an appropriate response. That is beyond shit-house rat crazy fucked up. There is no plausible excuse for that shit. I'd have beaten the little fucker within and inch of his purple life. Jail time or not, I'd a beaten him so he'd remember the pain that comes with being a complete and utter douche bag.
  6. Zorrow, I'm reasonably sure Kiz was yankin' our chains.
  7. LOL. Awright, I'll admit, ya had me going, Kiz. For a brief minute there I thought you were for real. My bad.
  8. Really? You think that gives him the right to destroy someone's vintage ax that way? Like I said, IMO, I don't care who you are, ya don't mess with another man's ax like that. If I'm missing a big chunk of the subtext, i.e. Prince choreographed this or made arrangements to compensate the guy behind the scenes then my rant is for naught. I'm basing my opinion on the apparent fact that Douglas didn't seem to know that was gonna happen.
  9. Not surprised by that, Dave.
  10. Sorry Kiz, I gotta call bullshit on that. You just don't fuck with another man's guitars, regardless of your feelings about the make/model. I ain't a fan of Epi's, vintage or otherwise, but I know well enough not to pull some mega-prick stunt like that. I don't care who the fuck you are (or are calling yourself this month) that is just plain fucked up. Maybe we don't have the whole story but based on what is known, I'd say that Prince Putrid owes that guy another '61 Epi WITH an autograph and a sincere apology.

  12. That's the type of V I'd get (and have wanted as of lately) if I were to go V. Given the extinction of Hamer, guess that's one ax I'll never see...
  13. Love Wolf's playing and was stoked when I saw him sporting a Hamer a few years ago. Been listening to Accept's playlist on the iPod in the car.
  14. I'll paraphrase Andrew and NC Wyeth to define what makes good art, as music is obviously a form of art. "Art must come from emotion, without it, it is purely clinical exercise of technique." "Drawing cubes and cones ( a parallel to learning basic chords and scales) all day drove me up a tree. But my father believed in it and I believed in it. You've got to know the rules before you can break them."
  15. +1 She definitely plays with fire and verve. Goddamn, I would've been madly in love with her back when I was 16...
  16. I am (still) a sorry sack of sh*t by comparison. I was so slow to learn even basic rudiments of theory, chords and the pentatonic scale. Sheeesh. I'd have traded my left nut to be able to have that kind of dexterity and aptitude. It's embarrassing. That being said, I was writing my own sh*t by the 2nd year of non-playing/learning. Talking complete songs and fairly adventurous at that. It all sucked but it was what was in my head and heart and to this day still makes me smile after I finish laughing my ass off at the horrid technical aspect.
  17. +1 Frankly, I really don't think I can do much better than the incoming custom order Cali, custom shop Jackson Star, or my Python project Cali, and a revamped, refin-ed, modded Blitz. YMMV.
  18. For the record, I'm still in. That V90 I was poised to acquire did not happen. I pulled the plug on that deal. Got too many irons in the fire with past projects already bought and paid for. And don't think, for a second, that this contest had any bearing on that decision...
  19. Aww knock it off, Bennyboy! Now you're just being plain mean and cruel...
  20. Daesin's Cali is so off-the-charts cool!!! The originality of the graphic and the perfect marriage of his artistic vision and arguably, the finest vehicle for rawk musical expression make that one for the record books. I wish Jim was available for my custom order Cali. Won't say I had to settle on the graphic for my order but if I had his copious talent to work with... hoo boy! WARNING! Slight derail: I did, however, manage to get my idea for a custom finish on my upcoming Jackson Custom:
  21. My apologies but I can't seem to find a better shot of the whole guitar. This was my first Cali Elite and my only O'Connor to date.
  22. If the For Sale section stays as empty of guitars that interest me as it has for the last 7 days, I'm a shoe-in for winning this lil' contest.
  23. Surly cock. Sounds like a great band name!
  24. Rik was one of my absolute faves in the early- mid 80's and I had an opportunity to see him play in a high school auditorium in 2007. He was doing a acoustic/electric set with another backing guitarist. It was pretty cool as he did some of his more recent jazzier material and few of his old Triumph hits as well. Missed my opportunity to meet him afterwards though.
