  1. I've done that but did go one step too far. Heed Jeff's warning!
  2. Maybe a piece of heat shrink wrap tubing?
  3. I've never tried it in this application, but what about a wrap or two of Teflon plumbers tape?
  4. Wow, the black brushed Aluminum back plates are cool! Those will come in handy for those missing theirs.
  5. Those Ibanez sure grips or whatever their official name is are my favorites. I had those Ibanez knobs on my early 80s Destroyer II.
  6. Wow. I'm blown away! Almost makes me want to take back all I've ever said bad about bass players... almost! 🤪
  7. So cool to see the awesome talent people on this board possess!!
  8. I looked into those after seeing it here and found a pic from a collector's Instagram page and it had one of those, another guitar and the Hamer Miller guitar between them! I also saw some that had Jackson on the headstock.
  9. I have a 25.5" chap custom; set neck, all flame maple body, ebony board, boomerangs etc. but I always thought the 24.75" scale chaps looked better to me.
  10. The Lace logo looks like the more recent version so probably fairly newish. Could you matchup ohm readings to published specs? Could maybe narrow it down. Or, get those first before emailing them might help them help you

  12. Did you ever try this device? I was surprised at the $150 price! Also heed the warning they give on reactions to nitro cellulose guitar finishes. Looks interesting though.
  13. Well, I went over my shoulder MRI with the doc this morning and figured out why I've been in so much pain over the last year. I have a 100% full thickness rotator cuff tear, supraspinatus, and the tendon has retracted 1.5" to the other side of the joint. I'm 59 and he said that if I was 10 years older they would be looking at full shoulder joint replacement. I'll have surgery in a month, and 6 months plus of rehab after that. This getting old stuff is fun!😃 I was surprised how much I could still do with that severed in there.
  14. Guitarlington, sounds like something from the King of the Hill show! 😃
  15. People like Mr. Hartwell are why the HFC is the best! Yesterday I received the Squier mini strat, a line 6 Mini Spider amp, a Levys strap and a Fender cable from him for my adult daughter and son! For $100 I didn't ask any questions about anything but it was all in great shape and much better than I expected or deserved! Geoff and the HFC are awesome!!!
  16. Thanks for posting the vid. I'm always glad to see Hamer in the limelight and if Glenn, the band, fans etc. get something from it then that's awesome. As for me, it left me sad. It's not how I want to remember him. I saw them in the 80s and prefer to keep those memories the strongest, not diluted by the ravages of time. I've passed on shows lately for the same reason. Again, I admire his courage to be there, but just like great athletes, sometimes it's just time to move on. IMHO.
  17. This guys take on things seemed fairly well informed (for all i know). He explains how the band comes in one count off, finally figures it all out by the end. He includes things that may have helped them not repeat this in the future, but i guess they don't subscribe to his channel. I don't really mean to krap on kISS but nowadays they're such low hanging fruit.
  18. Well, first things first Geoff; what is the weight of said instrument, get your calipers out and give me measurements at the first fret and 12th, what's the acoustic voice like? Is the amp similar to a Marshal Plexi? What is the capacitance reading of said cable? Screw-on ends or soldered? Haha! Of course I kid! That's so generous of you! I'll PM you now. Thanks! I actually am fairly familiar with those mini strats. I would recommend them to some of the kids that came for lessons a while back and I was always pleasantly surprised with their sound and playability.
  19. I never gave it much thought until I watched some YouTube videos of Kiss making mistakes with their click/backing track. There are a lot of them. They had all the cues setup for them to follow; "Cold Gin in 1, 2, 3, 4... Solo, rock pose, pout lips, suck in cheeks, spit blood, time for your Geritol, check on Kiss Koffin Sales etc. And, I really used to like Kiss a lot as a kid/teenager.
  20. My adult daughter wanted a guitar to learn on but cheap. They have a 2 1/2 year old son that may get in on the action (read, try to destroy it!) so again looking for cheap and possibly 3/4 size. Cheap as in $100 or less. So, that probably eliminates most privately shipped items so may have to try Rogue or Mitchell at GC or something similar. The overall level of most guitars are so much better than were available when I first started 40 years ago they should probably be ok. Does anyone have any advice on good cheap beginner acoustics, or have one to sell me. I'm in ATL. Thanks!
  21. I found this today from my custom ordered Valvetech which I no longer have. It also has some hand written info from Rob Pierce (I'm pretty sure that's what his name is, its been so long now!) I also highlighted some cool features which I had forgotten about. I'll send it to a Valvetech owner who wants it for free. No strings attached, no first born etc.
  22. Also, kind of interesting that the spring locking Allen screw inserts are only on the 3 middle holes and not all 5?! 🤔
  23. Thanks for all the responses! I guess what I was mainly saying (or tried to) was that I always thought switching to a brass block on a trem was basically improving the metal versus some other alloy so when I saw, at least currently, that they were brass anyway I wasn't sure if switching blocks would do anything unless it was a bigger block. Maybe that was the whole premise anyway. Anyway, here's pics of my Hamer Schaller-made Floyd Rose on my '89 Chap Custom which I've had for at least 20 years, maybe 25? I assume it is stock. BTW, the trem is all black even though the sheen on the string locking blocks make them look like some unobtainable metal! It's inconceivable! (Princess Bride reference) Does anyone else have these spring lock downs on their trem blocks? I could always loosen them and compare the sound to with them tightened for a test. But, I doubt it makes much tone difference. I like having things locked down though just like locking bridges and tailpieces on my Les Paul style guitars.
