  1. I thought for sure you were gonna include "I Hate My Job."
  2. ...but would be much fun to smash!!
  3. I was wondering the same thing. Looks like about 5 or 6 decent guitars along with a bunch of doodee. At least the descriptions are vague.
  4. Well, maybe. Maybe not. I know how these things catch fire, but what is the "tipping point"? What started the ball rolling? There has to be some reason (like the legendary players and recordings that involve vintage Strats and Pauls), or you can attribute the whole mess to the Internet, a la Jaye's post. If the latter is the case, we need to shut down TGP and LPF. 1. Ken is dead.2. He didn't make many. 3. He got/gets lots of props from other amp builders. 4. Booteek message board chatter, see Jaye's hillarious post. 5. Brad Paisley paid a shit ton for one recently so return to point 4. Brad paid a shit ton because they were already worth a shit ton, but something got the price up there before he paid it. Point being, we all hear talk about booteek this-and-that on these boards, but nothing spirals out of control like this. This is much worse than a $9000 Stevens guitar, $700 Timbuckers, or anything else for that matter. Even your much maligned $10,000 PAFs are affordable in comparison. After all, they are from the uber expensive Gibsons already mentioned.
  5. Why are vintage strats and LP's so expensive? Hell, why are 4-digit Standards so expensive? I wouldn't buy any of that stuff at current prices unless I had more money than I know what to do with, but apparently there are plenty of people who have exactly that kind of money and if they want to spend it on that, well they're no dumber than anyone else spending money on what is IMO stupid bullshit (and the list of stuff that falls in that category is virtually limitless ).-Austin I KNOW why that stuff is so expensive, and whether or not you'd pay x-amount for any of it is not the question. I really don't think I need to list the reasons why vintage Strats, Les Pauls and even 4 digit Standards continue to appreciate year after year. That is all not debatable. I asked why these amps command the prices they do. HOW have they become legendary?
  6. Of course. http://larkstreetmusic.com/ The subject of the establishment is a discussion for another day...
  7. Why are these so expensive? TRAINWRECK, 1983, "Ginger" #1 this is the first Trainwreck that Ken Fisher built, and arguably the most famous, it's a "Liverpool" built for Caspar McCloud and named "Ginger" , after his wife. and was finished in Jan 1983, well documented-, this is the one you want if you want a Trainwreck, comes in the cabinet pictured ( Ken put this cab with it several years ago) as well as the primitive oak cabinet that originally housed it, rare with rich harmonics, simply the best, exc...........$42,500 Big Image. Another Big Image.
  8. I'd be President of MENSA.As opposed to your current position at NAMBLA.
  9. I've always longed for some raking, too. The best guitar techniques are the ones that share a name with a landscaping task.Well, that would explain why my solos remind everyone of fertilizer.
  10. You mean the song with the TWO 2-minute guitar solos?
  11. Yes. That's a killer. The live version kicks extra ass!
  12. Some very good examples of trademark guitar work for the players you mentioned, but they're all pretty long solos. Indeed the Beck and the Vaughan solos are the entire song. We're looking for quickies here.
  13. Someone mentioned the Candy-O solo in the "Iconic Guitar Solos" thread, and it got me thinking down this road. Easton's "Candy-O" solo is definitely near the top for me. Up there with that one (in no particular order): Novarro's lick in "Been Caught Steeling" Summers' "Driven To Tears" solo Bryan Bassett in "Play That Funky Music, White Boy" Fishbone's Kendall Jones in "One Day" Whomever it was that was filling in for Ace Frehley on "All-American Man" Certainly I've missed at least a few. Your faves?

  15. There's no law that says he has to use the Wilkie bridge, either. I had one recently that had a vintage style Tele bridge installed (IMO, it is the only kind of bridge that should be on a Tele) without any modifications. It just screwed right on.
  16. I just got off the phone with them and was told without question: Shipping IS covered. An instrument that you have shipped is covered until YOU tell them that it has arrived safely. What I especially like about their plans is that they are NOT written in a way that is open to debate or interpretation. They tell you what is covered and what is not - just like that. This gives me a No BS kind of feeling, as if I am paying for a service and it will be provided. Imagine that. No small print. No "legal-eze."
  17. Ah, but that's one of the few exclusions to coverage in the Heritage policy so it doesn't work. That's not what my policy says. In fact, it specifically covers shipping. Question: Once you sell something - technically it is no longer yours. How could it be protected? I could see if you were shipping to a repair shop or if you were moving, car accident... The way I understand it, you'll be paying insurance on the instrument until you tell them that you sold it.Insurance when shipping (as while buying/selling) was one of the selling features that they pitched to me, and my policy says nothing about that in its "exclusions" paragraphs.
  18. Ah, but that's one of the few exclusions to coverage in the Heritage policy so it doesn't work. That's not what my policy says. In fact, it specifically covers shipping.
  19. What it means is, even if he declared the value as $800 and FedEx accepted it, they're not responsible for anything over $100 because the contents fit one of the exceptions listed above.FedEx does offer insurance/declared value for expensive stuff, but it's a different service and you have to apply to use it (that is, you can't get it with a counter walkup). However, they will be more than happy to take extra money from you to insure your shipment for X-amount of dollars, even though they have no intention of paying. This discussion/dilemma is really nothing new, folks.
  20. The instrument insurance from Heritage is looking better all the time.
  21. Ice Cream Man? Sorry. No need to apologize. I'm cranking it right now and it sounds pretty f**kin' strong to me!
  22. I rarely close my eyes when I play (I need them to see what I'm doing - lol) and since so many others posting seem to be the same way... Why is it that I always seem to have a look as if "something stinks"? Maybe it's my playing?
  23. Have him send you a photo. When he does, and it turns out to be an Echotone, send him an email with a link to the Ecotone page on the Hamer site and the name of an Optometrist in his area.
