I don't think so. I just saw a picture of an all original early Sunburst with two P90s.I'd like to see that. I've never heard of such an animal.

As an experiment I wired up my white Standard with master volume and two tone controls and I much prefer that setup.

I predict you'll get some resistance to that opinion. Not from me! It's the most on point Hokie has been in months!

Absolutely. Between the crowns and the neck binding, that one looks right to me. -
Who makes a better Tele than the T-51?

Yes, I do believe you've got some Hell to pay for that one. -
That purple hamer with white emgs

I'm in this camp as well (although I WOULD accept it as a gift and look to sell it down the road). All of the voting, conjecture, and suggestions are a waste of everyone's time. Bottom line is that it belongs to Ted and if he wants to keep it, give it away, throw it in a chipper, or hang it in the Hard Rock, it's all up to him, and if history is any guide, it is not a decision that he will make quickly. -
That kinda graphic seems like a natural for a Vee, don't you think?

I gotta agree with you, LOTT. A lot of this might have to do with all of us being so jaded that it's just hard to impress us anymore, but I also can't say that there's one thing in their display that I look at and think, "I'd like to have one of those."

"Earthen Maple," as opposed to the celestial kind.

It looks over-the-top outrageous as is. I can't imagine what it will look like with some stain bringing out contrast and depth.

Exactly. If you can, spend the money on something vintage.THAT's where it's at! I played a real 1958 tele in a studio two years ago. It was in 100% original condition. Can't say that it blew me away. It was really good, but my T51 is an evil creature too. For me it's not worth paying what a vintage Tele costs. My T51 does the job just right and sounds like it sold it's soul to the devil, just as it's supposed to. That's why you have to find a beat-to-shit one. They're cheaper and they ARE worth it. There are good ones and bad ones, just like anything else. Conversely, I have yet to play a T-51 that I thought was worth damn. -

That goes without saying, but I'd still suck at guitar.

I agree with Muse's jealousy statement. For the record, I saw a performace of his on TV (not sure if it was the ACL or not), but my take on it was this: I wouldn't buy any of his stuff based on what I heard because I didn't like the songs. I don't really like pop tunes, but I have to admit that his are as good as they come in that regard. His "non-pop" songs were just not what I would consider good. His playing is a different story though. The guy can play his ass off, plain and simple.

I tried to get that in the "board rules" but robbie's a big fan, so it got shot down.

Since you took the thread sideways (lol!), Tal Wilkenfeld impressed the shit out of me! To Hell with John Mayer. From her site: "She originally set foot on American soil as a guitar player, and less than four years ago, she started playing the bass guitar. Instantly, she was offered an endorsement with Sadowsky guitars, and since then, has played bass behind Jeff Beck, Chick Corea, Hiram Bullock, Vinnie Colaiuta, the Allman Brothers Band, Wayne Krantz, Kenwood Dennard, Geoffrey Keezer, Russell Ferrante, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Eric Krazno, Susan Tedeschi, and John Beasley." ...and I never heard of her. I really need to get out more.

Tele? I love reading some of the comments, which happen to be more entertaining than the clips a lot of the time. This nugget from one genius starts out well enough, but then the wheels fall off... "He has a Hamer 12-string guitar in this clip, which is made by Kaman, who makes Glen's trademark Ovation acoustic guitars (they used to make electrics, and Glen still has a 12-stringed one). I bet it would sound awesome with a Rickenbacker or Fender 12-string." So close that time...
