  1. I'm going from hazy memory, but having owned both, I'm pretty sure the Washburn V profile was sharper than the Tally. I liked it, but I was so new to guitar that I didn't have much else to compare it with. I definitely like my Tally neck better, for sure. Probably my favorite of all time, actually.
  2. That's a blast from the past! My first "real" guitar was an A-5V, which was the bolt on version just below the A-10 in the product line. Cool guitar that had a nice v-shaped neck and rocked out pretty well. Trem wasn't great, but otherwise solid. Carlos Cavazzo from Quiet Riot played some version of this guitar, not sure which one (probably A-20). No idea what the value of these is these days, unfortunately. Still would be fun to play!
  3. Here's one more. Nothing unique, other than she's mine
  4. As you're coming around the Beltway, Action Music in Falls Church VA is worth a stop. Lots of cool vintage stuff on hand, and the owner Matt Baker is super knowledgeable.
  5. Hey, I sent him your info via Faceboook, good luck!
  6. The Facebook page doesn’t have additional contact info, besides the same email address as the website. I could PM him for you on Facebook, if you shoot me a phone number or other contact info that you want him to use.
  7. Yeah, that is weird. I'm not sure what is driving that. Their Facebook site seems pretty active and positive (https://www.facebook.com/HungryForMusic).
  8. I've given some gear to this group in the past, seems pretty legit: http://hungryformusic.com/donate-an-instrument/ Thumbs up on the PIF, another example of good peeps here at the HFC Mark B
  9. Have you tried any of the Apple means to track your devices? http://www.apple.com/icloud/find-my-iphone.html Not sure if the Galaxy has that too. I'd guess that the jerks who got your kid's phone looked at his GPS history, maybe found some pics of your gear and other valuables at home, and put two and two together. You could also try your cell phone provider or ISP, they might be able to discover something. Good luck! MarkB
  10. For me it is just too many things to think about, and my playing suffers (goes from sucky to really sucky.) I do somewhat better when someone else (even my 9 year old kid) is pushing the buttons and I can just play. Re the original post, I think that sounds pretty good for a first time, going direct. Maybe my ears are too used to the modern, uber-squashed sound, but I wonder if a little more compression would help make the whole mix sound more up front, if that makes any sense. That would help bring up the overall level, too, which wouldn't hurt. Regardless, a nice job!
  11. I was there once pre-kid, so it must have been about a decade ago--time flies. My credit card visited a few years later on the custom order purple sustain block Sunburst Good times! Mark B
  12. Kind of a mash-up of the last two syllables of my last name with "guit" on the front. I think one of the bass players I used to play with originally came up with it. Mark
  13. He made a guitar movie with Jimmy Page and the Edge, while we're all sitting here chatting on the interwebs...he wins. MarkB

  20. I only ask this as someone who has in a brain fog actually done it wrong--are you sure you turned the truss rod nut the right way? Worth double checking before doing something drastic or expensive. MarkB
  21. If he's good enough for the Muppets, he's good enough for me Mark
  22. Thin Lizzy - albums were cool, but still topped by the live stuff, I think. Still tight, but rawer. MarkB
