I got super lucky and found a 1980's Carvin Gotoh exact manufacturer stamp on bottom for my 1998 Hamer Mahogany.

I can't recall what manufacturer I used on my 1995 Rick Nielsen but there was no manufacturer stamp on bottom of either. I feel it was a Kluson.

If I sell I'll be transparent and include original parts.

    I hope this helps.

I didn't detune 0166. When I do, I'll post what material and manufacturer if stamped.

Schaller makes Stops but they are very expensive. I don't think Hamer used Schaller stops.

I suggest you wax the new parts with Renaissance Micro-crystaline wax polish.

Like a seal for metal pieces.

I'm not a luthier just going by experience I've gathered over 56 years of playing and tinkering on guitars.

Here is my latest project. I have to remove solder on pots but look like 1981-1985.

Gravelin pickups and a Hamer Branded Schaller 37mm to replace Hamer Neck. Unknown bridge and Jackson 32mm. The springs hit the wood and plate spring for fine tuners shot.

  2. Zinc. Heavier than aluminum.

I'll check my Standard 0166 and get back to you.

    My 1995 Korina Standard Zinc

My 1995 Rick Nielsen Signature Zinc

    My 1998 Mahogany Standard Zinc

Found NOS on Ebay for both.

First bought Aluminum and then had to buy Zinc.

OT about SS#'s. There was a story on 60 minutes about why you should NEVER give your SS number to anyone EVER. Fight it hard if they want it.
The most common place people give up their number is in the medical field. Doctors, Hospitals and Dentists always ask for it. Don't do it. Here's why...

Copy Machines. Your medical records get copied all the time in offices. Those copy machines are almost always rented and not owned. Hospitals have contracts with vendors that supply them and they get replaced with new ones all the time. Most don't realize, they have Hard drives in them. And the copier saves thousands of pages of images. Images of your personal info and SS#'s. When the vendor comes and replaces the machines, nobody erases the hard drives!

60 minutes went to an auction of business stuff and bought some used copiers. Low and behold, the hard drives still had all this personal info on the drives that anyone could see. Not encoded or anything, just there to be stolen.  Crazy right.

My identity was stolen this same was from a Physical Therapy Center.

Now I never give my SS.

That ad was up some months ago minus the bad ass playing behind a Harley pic which is surely why it is best of Craigs.  I was going to bring it up here at the time but I guess got lazy.

He claims it is still for sale.

If anyone in Illinois would like to make a few hundred bucks to help me I'd appreciate.

But again I'm not sure he really owns it.

Never mind I'm trying too hard.

Ask for any links to past Reverb, eBay or other FBMP transactions. If nothing exists, beware.

You can also ask one of the many HFC Illini members to act as a go-between.

    Thanks!

He never responded when I said it had to be shipped and I would send a box and return label. Even extra $200-$250 for the inconvenience.

I figure he never had the guitar because last time it was posted he never responded.

No loss except I really like that guitar and would love to have it in my collection.

Some things are not meant to be.

I appreciate your thoughts and wisdom.

  6. I asked him again for pic of Electronics Cavity. He gets pissed at me about it.

    I tell him it's important.

He calls me names, I say something back and he blocks me on Reverb and now there is a picture of Electronics Cavity.

And it's double the price... lol

Since the master Murkat hung up his tool belt I've been doing all my guitar work myself, but the time has come for my main baby to get a refret (which I am not tool equipped to do). I'm hoping someone here can recommend a new master, preferably a cat that will do the refret with just the neck (I ordered a duplicate replacement neck so I need the body).

Warmoth Strat 4 bolt, 22 fret, no binding, 6105 SS.  Thanks in advance for any help y'all can provide.
