  1. Sent you an e-mail. Post here if you don't get it...
  2. If you really like the guitar (and it sounds like you do) I'd have a pro look at it. None of that looks too tough or too expensive so you may as well make sure it's done correctly. If you want to make a quick trip from San Angelo to Austin, I can give you the phone number of a great guy. He's done lots of work for me in the last 10 or 15 years, recommended highly. Or you could e-mail him the pics and see what he thinks.
  3. The one in my '85 measured 10.72K...
  4. Full of himself or not, the guy is badass drummer. I saw Dream Theater from the 3rd row a few years back and the whole band was jaw-dropping. Hope he's happy whatever he decides to do.
  5. Gotta 'fess up... that one's mine. Wrote that while my girlfriend watched Big Brother last night. Don't really need to sell it and won't cry if it stays... but I've got Peter's '79 Sunburst in the works. Thought I'd see what interest was out there.
  6. I just bought an old Vector and a Steve Stevens so it'll be a while before I purchase again. But my dream Hamer would be: Studio Custom chambered body sustain block bound and crowned Seth Lover at the bridge P-90 at the neck vintage neck carve Explorer-style headstock (a nod to Rick Neilsen's Les Paul) Natural finish on the mahogany back and neck Either a black cherry finish or faded denim (like the PRS ones) over a flamed maple top Too rich for my blood right now, but maybe someday. :-)
  7. Blah blah... media sucks... blah blah. You didn't look too hard, my friend. ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN all ran nice stories on Les Paul. I produce newscasts for the Austin ABC affiliate and made sure he was well represented. Les Paul's obit aired on our station, written by a guitarist who grew up in recording studios and knows full well the debt we owe the man. Our chief meteorologist is a music fiend and met Les Paul a few years ago. I also gave him plenty of time to talk about that experience after the story aired. I love how people lump "the media" all together as if none of us has an independent thought, an alternate point of view or the slightest shred of professionalism.
  8. Let's face it... many of our beloved Hamers (like my Studio Customs) are direct descendants of Les Paul. Between his work developing electric guitars and his pioneering work in the recording studio, the guy literally changed the world. I'll have to watch my "Chasing Sound" DVD again tonight. Thanks, Les!
  9. Good memory, amigo! Haven't set foot in CC for almost 6 years. I've also met Belgian (Conrad) and Bruiser. Lots of fun!
  10. Happy birthday from Austin, Texas!
  11. While I certainly wouldn't claim I "know" him, I've met Eric Johnson a few times and he seems really nice. As does that goldtop. Alas, it's beyond the grasp of a mere mortal like myself... good thing I have my Hamers! :-)
  12. Worthy? We're supposed to be worthy???? Welcome aboard!
  13. Two of my faves have Hameritis - enjoy the guitar and don't give it a second thought. Hell, I LOVE Hameritis... I got my Artist Custom for $650 because of it.
  14. That seems sensible to me. I think the old vintage guitars must have something to 'em or people wouldn't spend those insane amounts of money. But my only real experience with one is my '65 ES-330. Not a very scientific sample and not a model attracting the realy big price tags. At the same time, I'm really glad we have such a wide variety of great stuff being made now.
  15. These threads are always fun since there seems to be an assumption that there is a "Les Paul sound" - and that Les Pauls sound alike and offer something no other guitar can. I've had four Les Pauls and they all sounded different. Similar, but distinctly different. So to me, the "Les Paul sound" is a ballpark - and a Hamer Special FM or Studio will definitely get you there.
  16. It's gotta be good... it has "trust" rods in the necks!
  17. "That bridge and roller saddle will have to go though.... " Actually, that's my old Heritage and I really liked the tailpiece and roller bridge. Super comfortable, never noticed any negative impact on tone or sustain. Dave, if other Kurt doesn't want it and you're serious about getting rid of it, I wouldn't mind getting that one back from you. E-mail me - kliptak AT austin DOT rr DOT com
  18. Gotta stick up for "Crime of the Century." Great album.
  19. I didn't tune in quikly enough to see her perform, but if the Patrice Pike that performed on the show is the same Patrice Pike that's played around Austin for years, she's really good.
  20. Still for sale... bump!
  21. I'm most interested in trading for cash... but whatcha got?
  22. I'd call the neck medium... very flat fretboard radius. Here are more pics- one pic looks kind of orange, but it's not. It's red. daytona full daytona body daytona back daytona in case daytona case daytona head front daytona head logo daytona head back
  23. Haven't weighed it, only have a bathroom scale. Not super-light, but it's not a real ball-buster. I've had Strats that are heavier.
  24. Don't know if the case is original, but it's rectangular and says Hamer on it.
