Jimi Hendrix - Isabella (Live version) This whole tune is a guitar showpiece, great phrasing as welll as rythm Marty Friedman - Tornado of Souls (Megadeth Rust in Piece) Technique, feel and phrasing...gets me everytime I hear it SRV - Little Wing Heard this on the radio in the middle of shred years (I was 18) and it blew me away Metallica - Master of Puppets The break down section then harmonized solo is just big piece of shiny-metal beauty Metallica - Orion Again, the slow part in the middle led off by Cliff on the bass, slow bending harmonized goodness Jason Becker - Tell the Truth (David Lee Roth A Little Aint Enough) Aggressive Blues from a masterful shredder, his bends and vibrato are perfection Yngwie Malmsteen - Marching Out I know, I know but doubters need to listen to this track that starts out with the usual NeoClassical intro but develops into a very bluesy and soulful lead that defies his reputation for a speed demon

Ouch. I'm usually a pretty positive person when it comes to change but I am hoping Fender keeps it's mits out of Hamer USA! I was thinking about selling my 2004 SuperPro to make way for a Talledega but I think I'll wait and see how this plays out. Anyone heard any comments from Joel or Frank Rindone on this yet?

The First Tone That Made You Say... "Whoa!"
KeyOfZ replied to Hamerhack's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Tons of tones that I love but a couple that come to mind are more of production tricks: Steve Vai's tone on SkyScraper (David Lee Roth) and later on Passion and Warfare - smoothest overdrive and harmonizer I had ever heard. Metallica - The Black Album - This guitar tone is a weapon, great sounding really loud. SRV - Little Wing - I think I stopped breathing for a bit the first time I heard this track....blew me away. Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood - Bob Rock does it again, crushing tone. Joe Satriani - Anything that recent or that has been re-mastered. Singing tone. John Sykes - Whitesnake album and Blue Murder stuff - WAY under rated guitarist....the tone comes from his fingers. -
The "instrument that started it all"

Steve Vai (Imitated by Ralph Machio) in Crossroads. I just loved the look of the Telecaster. That Paganini based showstopper at the end hooked me forever. I still practice with it to this day. Ry Cooders playing is awesome as well. -

Anyone use Hot rails type pickup in a strat?
KeyOfZ replied to Imiss85's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Wow...I was just over at the DiMarzio site....they have a SuperDistortion S single coil sized pickuop 325 output rating!!! That's even hotter than my Fast Track 2! -

KeyOfZ replied to Imiss85's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Yeah that's the Fast Track 2 in the Ash Daytona. I also have a DiMarzio ProTrack in my other Daytona that sounds more like a PAF than a Distortion pickup. My 1994 Daytona (Ash) is setup as follows: DiMarzio Fast Track 2 in the bridge (heavy but still round, versatile with volume rolled off...this is my favorite pickup for rock/metal) Stock SD Single in the Middle position (I wanted the single coil in the middle for clean channel and adding extra "quack" in the nothed positions) DiMarzio HS3 in the Neck (Stacked humbucker designed by Yngwie, sounds very single coilish without any hum, nails Yngwie's neck pickup tone...also good for blues) My 1993 Daytona (Green) is setup as follows: DiMarzio ProTrack in the bridge (PAF Pro for strat style guitars, I wanted something more vintage sounding but with Humbucking tone...this did the trick) DiMarzio HS2 in the middle (Straight, clean single coil tone without any hum...does the quack thing great as well) DiMarzio YJM in the Neck (Same pickup as the HS3 only it has a vintage magnet stagger and a little more high end...great for Jazz, Blues and clean chords) With the Fast Track 2 pickup I think the DiMarzio Chopper has more output to match up better in the Neck position. One thing about my 1994 Daytona is that there is a big pickup output difference between the Bridge and Neck/Mid pickups. Something to think about. -

Who uses a minimalist approach to effects?
KeyOfZ replied to nosajwp's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Stock hinges on that laptop or an aftermarket upgrade? LOL....yeah this is my basic recording rig for getting ideas down. The big mamojamma rig looks exactly the same only there is a big beefy PC in place of the laptop. My band always shows up on time though I recorded this with this same setup (more or less) Damnation Game -

I LOVE effects I also love the sound of a great guitar plugged into a great amp and nuthin else. I spend most of my money on great guitar so I am lacking in great amp department... This is my basic rig right now: -

The G2.1 and G2.1U have been available since last December.....sweet little units they are. Built like a tank and quiet as hell. The G2.1U goes for about 169.99US The G7.1UT goes for about 299.99US The G9.2TT goes for about 399.99US The specs on the guitar on Damnation Game: 1994 Hamer USA Daytona 6100 Jumbo frets DiMarzio FastTrack 2 in the bridge DiMarzio HS3 in the neck Everly B-52 strings .09 - .46 -

You might also look at the Zoom G7.1UT or the 9.2TT effects consoles.....they have a real tube in them that adds an extra bit of realism to the models. Zoom G7.1UT Zoom G9.2TT I just picked up the G7.1UT and I am amazed how this thing sounds both through headphones and in front of an amp. There is a HUGE amount of awesome effects to go along with the stellar models. One of the Zoom original effects is called "Air" it basically sounds like you are adding cabinets full of speakers to a room. The Hughes and Kettner Triamp model is scary real. Edit: This is a recording I did with my old Zoom G2.1U that basically has the same "guts" as the G7.1 and G9.2 but without the tube energizer. Everything you hear is the Zoom G2.1U. (SouthWest Airlines lost my luggage in February so I had to replace it with the Zoom G7.1UT) Zoom G Series recording
