  1. As if her "music" wasn't annoying enough, she talks more than DLR and Paul Stanley combined.
  2. One of my jobs in the Navy was to provide intercept control for fighter aircraft, and Cynic is what the group of instructors labeled me when I went through the school. As goofy as using callsigns always felt, it was quick and easy to say on the radio and couldn't be confused with any of the typical orders or informational calls that were used so it kinda stuck.
  3. If they were to cover Nirvana, I wonder if there would be a discernible difference.
  4. Not taking anything away from the original, but I really like what Jeff Buckley did here Again, the original is pretty freakin good, but Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt is scary good. I'll piggy-back on the "Any cover Hendrix did" and throw out "most" anything covered by Marilyn Manson.
  5. +1 What they said. Pretty good bang for the buck in the Blackstar. I own the head and run it thru a closed back 1x12 and have been able to get most any tone I want out of it.
  6. Just further proof that somewhere, there's a market out there for any of us to succeed in regardless of what style we play. The challenge is finding it.
  7. Congrats! Where and when can we start placing our orders?
  8. Ditto, I've used mine with iPhone 4 and an iPad without issue
  9. Yah right. Totally expendable metronomes. Must be true, at least A7X thinks so
  10. "These really will be the ultimate in Red Special copies and this kind of quality does not come cheap. Andrew estimates the cost will be in the region of £6500 - £7000." I think in American dollars that equals SPENDY Found HERE
  11. "©2010 Dantzig Design. Dantzig Design is not affiliated with Hamer Guitars" Don't know him from Adam, but I bet he would find these last ten pages pretty entertaining
  12. His self-esteem is certainly intact.
  13. But don't be like most that charge ridiculous interest rates because Joe Bootcamp doesn't know what it means. The "businesses" near military bases generally cause more financial hardship than need be. Predatory lending didn't start with the housing market. I refuse to support any business that advertises or has signage with words to the effect of "we finance military regardless of rank," or even "military welcome" for that matter.
  14. Thank goodness we have someone here that's qualified to judge what each of us are qualified to speak to so we can avoid any foolish assumptions.
  15. My experience is similar to Fenyman's. I rarely use it for anything expensive, but I've kept a pretty steady rotation, buying and selling 2 or 3 cheaper guitars a year to try the various shapes and styles I don't have in my nicer things. I could probably do much of what I do with regular trips to GC, but this way I get to play with them longer and if I run across one that plays well I can try a few things to see if it's worth keeping. For the obscurities it's worth it's weight in gold. 9 times out of 10 if you can think of something it can be found there. I've also learned many people don't even search elsewhere. When looking for a "pass the pigs" game maybe 7 years ago, I saw them selling on ebay for $15 and up. At the same time, Amazon was selling them for $7.99. I bought four to get the free shipping from Amazon, kept the one I wanted and listed the remaining three on ebay for $0.99. I ended up nearly doubling my $25 and had a "free" game to boot. I don't have the level of sanity (insanty?) required to make a habit of finding weird things to sell on ebay, but there have been numerous times that I've been happy someone else does.
  16. I don't follow the acoustic scene very closely, but if we are lumping all styles into one pile Carlos Montoya should have been in there somewhere. I remember being amazed as a kid when digging thru my folks vinyl and coming across a few of his records. +1 on Roy Clark.....along with Carlos, my folks always knew to look in my room first for his records.
  17. I've also never seen a "solid one piece...bookmatched alder body"
  18. Good to see you back! Here's to a quick and full recovery!
  19. No, but a brief bump from "Pull Me Under" didn't make them a successful singles band. The proof is in the record sales and/or ticket sales. DT ain't headlining the same venues that Maiden or Rush are. ...... will have zero interest in Dream Theater. I give up....you're both right.....and how can I argue when everything you say is not simply your opinion, but fact? Get back to work.
  20. You're saying DT has never had radio play.......none............ever? I think at best you can say your experiences have been different than mine, but I think to dismiss DTs capability to reach that demographic is a little short sighted. Perhaps rather than radio listener I should have said someone who's not fanatical/maniacal about music? In my mind they're pretty much the same but you apparently need very clear and distinct lines and I crossed one........my apologies.
  21. Sure, if you go out of your way to replace them with a shit drummer. I didn't say the replacement would be shit, that's your word. All I'm saying is that those less musically inclined would notice a change in singer or guitarist long before a change in bass player or drummer. My wife, for example...has stated she'd never really heard the bass line in most songs until she met me. I choose to believe there are many more that don't. I've never seen a single plug-n-play singer machine, bass machine, or guitar machine for sale in a music store
  22. Having Petrucci in front of you couldn't hurt. No offense to drummers, but for your average joe radio listener, next to the bass player the drummer is probably the most easily replaced band member without anyone being the wiser. Oh, and no offense to bass players
