  1. Since I've decided I'm not into bling and would rather fantasize about something I might actually own someday as opposed to an unobtainable dream creation ... 1. Excellent all original condition sustain block (hardtail) Phantom with a six on a side headstock in Midnight Pearl (not sure if this exists) 2. A Cali exactly like the one Rebeca just bought with iridescent finish and boomers 3. A really nice 2tec Cruise bass in black or SFG
  2. I've tried different things trying to be intentionally romantic but that usually just ends up being weird. I keep returning to Portishead "Dummy" , Garbage"Garbage", Radioheads "OK Computer", Or Miles Davis "Kind of Blue"
  3. But if it's going to be the Axis Edition... Spanish Castle Magic Wait Until Tomorrow Ain't No Telling She's So Fine Little Miss Lover and of course... Bold As Love! Of course it could be the Electric Lady Edition (also would have a big headstock, like the GSaRE)... Little Miss Strange House Burning Down Of course, you could branch out with the obvious... Are You Experienced or... Power Of Love Message Of Love Hear My Train Night Bird Flying I could go on and on. "Power of Love" in replacement of "original contour body" would be cool although I'm not sure if it would look right being different length words "Little miss strange" might work out better
  4. Thanks for the enthusiasm for my artwork but I really want this to look basically stock. Just some covert details that would require a doubletake.
  5. Like both those ideas ... so far so good! What about a variation on "original contour body" ?
  6. Hey, I need you witty bastards to come up with a few ideas for a large 69 headstock Fender strat decal Although I haven't got all the details worked out, its going to be some sort of Oly white, alder body / maple neck Hendrix inspired Strat. My mind isnt functioning correctly in this cold and all I can come up with is "Fender Stratocaster, Axis bold as love edition" Help!
  7. That doesnt look right... I would at least bring it to a luthier to have it checked out
  8. I live right by there, I should go check it out ... I might even be able to live with the color BUT the Kahler is a deal killer.
  9. I had Pete Biltoft custom make me a set for my Goldtop Archtop GT and I thought they sounded great. Nice guy and fair price. But then the guy I sold the guitar to thought that THOSE pickups sucked. Ha ha. So there you have it. Depends on the guitar, amp and style of music being played. Recent pickups I have loved are Bare knuckles mule (neck), Rio Grande texas and muy grande and also WCR Fillmores for humbucker applications, Di marzio area 61's for single coil applications Still waiting for a killer Jazzmaster to experiment with P90's in ... I'll let you know when I win the lottery Good luck with the Lollars ... I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, those things are great
  10. Those SD P90's suck, thats all. Hamer isn't 100% in their pickup choosing for some reason. Lollars are known to be the bomb so you'll be alright there. Worth the investment in this case.
  11. yes... sounds much better with all the parts replaced It has Mullards too! 17"x24"x9" ... looks kinda like "Thiele" size.
  12. The amp arrived today and I really do like the way it sounds. A little funky like someone built it it in their garage but with all quality parts. Hardwood finger jointed cabinet, Cannabis Rex, Mercury magnetics transformer etc. Cream Bill M board, Smooth smokey sound with lots of sustain. Sounds good at low volume and cranks too Hey, its working for me, sounds good, solid and only $400 bucks ... plus honestly has "mojo" Whats not to like? (plus arrived in one piece which is always a plus) Reminds me of a Warmoth project that sounds and looks killer but has no resale value >>> easily sounds like an expensive boo tiki style amp. I think a lot has to do with the speaker and hardwood cabinet (duh) So if someone wanted to spend the dough... it would not be money wasted Thanks for the feedback guys!
  13. that all sounds pretty good ... I'm really looking forward to this one ... hopefully it will arrive in one piece
  14. I bought a Blues jr. Bill M mod, mercury magnetics transformer, JJ tubes, Cannibis rex speaker ... basically the "Humboldt package" for $400 bucks. So cheap. I think it will be nice and I'll have extra dough to buy seat belts for the '59. Full tone report to come ...
  15. I had a genuine Blackface Champ and it just wasnt loud or ballsy enough for me. Even just for home use. Every time I find a nice Princeton the seller wants butt loads of money for it ... overpriced, but maybe worth it? Frankly my Koch 2x12 combo has been my favorite amp so far ... Just need one of those thats not so damn loud!
  16. “Hello, ladies, look at that amp, now back to me, now back at that amp, now back to me. Sadly, it isn’t mine, but if he stopped using 6V6 scented smoke and switched to Old Cedar and Ebony, it could be. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re on a stage with the amp your amp could sound like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an tele with two tickets to that thing you call fabulous. Look again, the tickets are now diamonds. Anything is possible when your amp sounds like heaven. I’m on a horse.” I remember when I used to do acid All that modeling crap gives me the heebie jeebies
  17. A buddy let me borrow a older blues jr he wasnt using ... I kinda like it! What do you guys think of the blues jr in general and what does it cost to have the Bill M mods made? Should I just buy a new one for $499 or fix up an older one? What speaker is best for rock/blues? (Think Peter Green) How much should I offer him for his? (older, a little beat up, probably needs a good servicing) Thanks!
