  1. That is absolutely tremendous work. I've just loved watching the painstaking restoration at each step. Really impressive. Thanks for sharing.
  2. No Plink, Plank, Plunk tones from her. Only BOIINNNNGGG! from me.
  3. BTW - I forgot to mention that the tone knob looked a little tall to me. So pressed down on it and COIL SPLITTIN' action! Uncle Greg, I just can't thank you enough. As much as I liked my Centaura, Talladega, DuoTone, and Custom Archtop (all of which are gone - 100% turn over of my guitar collection in the space about a year and half - which coincides with me finding this website) : this one is the keeper. Put in the bank.
  4. Citrus - I got the Studio today. She's in great shape. I think you overstated the dings. Lightest and most comfortable Hamer I've ever played. The neck is just right. I especially appreciate your bending over backwards to get the deal done. You're just outstanding to buy a guitar from. Thanks a bunch. BCR Greg - After I stretched out the strings and got 'er in tune, I gave the GregWinds a low intensity workout. You were right about how good these sound at lower volumes. Through the Peavey Classic with a tiny bit of distortion, the neck pup can be so smooth and bubbly (almost jazzy) and the bridge can be bright and piercing. All good. I'm smiling from ear to ear. Can't wait 'til I get home early enough to play her through the Trademark 60 at a little more rockin' volume. Thank you too!
  5. That's just offensive. Seems like you're off to a good start in bringing her back to life.
  6. This sounds like a pretty kick-butt amp? Is it for sale?
  7. What's the true test for deciding you need new strings? My buddy, an exclusively acoustic player, picked up one of my guitars and said that the strings needed to be changed because they're no long shiny (huh?) On the fixed bridges, seems like I could go about a year and be fine. Staying in tune wasn't a problem. I felt the need to change the Floyd guitar a little more (once every 6 months) due to all that pull'n and the need to constantly retune. As for "acid" hands - I wash my hands before I even pull a guitar out of the case. Seems to help avoid some of the problems I'm hearing about. As I write this I'm thinking about BB King just playing with this friends at a picnic - ain't no hand washing goin' on there. I think that might be the right spirit.
  8. I liked the RioGrandes in a DuoTone. I liked them in the DT better than the JB/59 that came stock in my studio. I don't think you could go wrong with the RGs.
  9. Detroit Rock City and Pina Colada Song ... (Bubba ducks!)
  10. This guy spent a lifetime building this guitar collection into the current state. Proof positive that more is not better.
  11. You'd figure a guy who could afford a '59 Les Paul and that amp could afford to pay a little more for production values on his video! Perhaps a metronome too? I kid...because I'm jealous.
  12. Cool guitar! You are a real guitar player, not a poseur! Keep the guitar high!
  13. Guilty as charged. As you can hear, he's put the Centaura to good use. I love that cover of W.O.S.
  14. Sold and delivered to our own Arpeggiated. Enjoy it, Dude! The transaction went smooth. He's a really good guy to deal with.
  15. How 'bout Tom Petty's American Girl. U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday. Prince's When Doves Cry.
  16. The Prototype was a cool body style and given the different techniques used to enhance the tone these days (e.g., sound chambers; custom pups) an update would be really cool.
  17. All this shredder talk must have gotten some people thinking, here are some pics as requested: You can see the nick I talked about on the neck, on this one: Not in collectors shape, but very good condition for an teenage shredder. Some dings and scrapes, but nothing horrific. Let me know if you have any questions.
  18. What the heck are you playing to get those girls up there? Reminds me of one of the reasons I wanted to get into music in the first place.
