  1. $OLD + actual shipping

The only "Strat" I ever liked.  I had tried a few Fenders before including a seafoam green Jeff Beck model and just never warmed up to them.  Not too long after I discovered the HFC I saw a natural finish Daytona for a good price and thought that would be a good way to try one out so I got it and really liked it.  I still wanted a seafoam green one though, so I just kept an eye out until I found this one.  I sold the natural one long ago.

A chip here or there (see pics), but really just honest player wear and not bad at all for a 30 year old working musician's guitar.  The original white knobs, trem bar, and case are included.  The Schaller strap pins will be replaced with generic pins.  Weighs 9.4 lbs. by the "me + guitar" - "just me" on the scale method.

Asking $1500 PP F&F local sale or $1500 PP F&F + actual shipping paid by the buyer; I pack it up and give you the dimensions and you choose your preferred carrier and priority (speed), buy the label and send it to me.  Not listing this one on Reverb for a few weeks; the HFC has the right of first refusal.

  2. $2800 + actual shipping

As a guitar player, I never really sought to own a bass but I thought if a JetGlo 4001 ever crossed my path I might consider it.  They are just too f'ing cool to ignore.  Well, one did and I succumbed to the temptation.  I loved when I would get a chance to play bass and I got to whip this one out.  Jaws dropped.

This bass is a beautiful naturally relic'd 1979; just some normal player wear.  I'm 99% sure this is the original case.  It has Schaller straplock pins installed right now, but they will be removed and replaced with generic strap pins.  It has a Lindy Fralin pickup in it currently and the original is also included.  All electronics including the Ric-o-sound jacks are in working order.  I have never used the Ric-o-sound but a friend of mine borrowed the bass for recording project a couple years ago and came back raving about it.   He ended up buying a FireGlo 4001 for himself.  I'm not even charging extra for the custom label on that one volume knob - consider that gift to you.  You're welcome.

Asking $2800 PP F&F local sale, or $2800 PP F&F and you pay actual shipping; I pack it up, get the weight and dimensions and you buy the shipping label from your carrier of choice, using whatever priority (speed of service) you want.  You just email me the label pdf to use.  I also have it listed on Reverb for more because of their fees, and locally for $3000 so I'm giving HFC'ers my lowest offer.

Sounds like you came up with a good solution. For future reference, what SHOULD work is you click on the 3 dots on the top right of your original post, then you can click "edit" to edit your post and click "submit" at the bottom. But I think others on here may have had problems getting that to work.

I can click on "edit" but I have no clue how to turn the strikethrough off and on to actually DO the edit.

  4. I've tried multiple times to go in and lower my prices on some of the guitars I have on offer right now, but I have no f'ing idea how to do it.  I just wanted to strike through the old price and put a new one in and I've wasted way too much time trying so I give up.  It's not you - it's me.  lol  I know I'm just too stupid to figure it out.

Make an offer if there's anything you're interested in.

  5. Funny story about this…I saw this show Tuesday night in Richmond, VA.

A friend of mine texted me about a week before the show saying he had an extra ticket to see the Beat show and I could have it for free if I wanted.  Well, I jumped on it because the Beat have played here in Richmond a few times over the years and I have always missed the show. Save It For Later, Mirror in the Bathroom, Twist and Crawl...yeah, man!  Yes, I thought he was talking about the English Beat!

It was my friend's birthday and he was going with a bunch of his other friends. He sent out an email to sort of coordinate activities like going to dinner beforehand and I could tell from the people who were going something was wrong. I looked up the restaurant that he suggested, and got one of those "events in this area" notifications. That's when I realized it was actually the King Crimson Beat show.  I didn't say anything because I was embarrassed! Coincidentally I had recently sold three King Crimson albums, the two Bears records, and Adrian Belew's Twang Bar King out of the record collection of a friend of mine who died a year or so ago.  I already had the two Bears record, and I listened to the other stuff before I sold it but a little that goes a long way with me.

Anyway, I went to the show with an open mind and it was amazing. I agree with a lot of Polara's assessment, except the sound at the Carpenter Center in Richmond was excellent except for Steve Vai's guitar being too low in the mix for my show all night. Tony Levin's stick especially sounded amazing; huge round deep tones. I commented to the other guys after the show that Adrian Belew's solos were really musical noise rather than actual guitar playing.

I'm glad I went, and if another show similar to that came around again it's possible I would check it out having gone to this one. I'm also going to listen to some King Crimson on Spotify to see if I recognize the songs I heard the other night.

I so wish I had seen these guys back in the 70’s. It just never worked out.

Same here.  I discovered them with the US version of Desolation Boulevard years after its release and was blown away.  Then I started getting their other albums and was surprised to find out so many songs I knew by other bands were originally recorded by the Sweet: No You Don't, Action, AC/DC (the song), Set Me Free, etc.

  7. I have an aneurysm (not in my brain, thankfully).  Surgery tomorrow.

9/19 update: the doctor said the surgery went well and I actually got to come home yesterday afternoon!

I had a kidney transplant back in 2005, and I've had other surgeries for things like broken bones before but I have never been as anxious about a surgery as I was about this one. Of course having two strokes in the last six months contributed to that.  I had been worried sick since finding out Monday about the aneurysm, so when I got home I iced it, took a painkiller, and had a nice de-stressing nap.  They did a ridiculously thick dressing on it that I have to leave on for five days and then I have a check up in two weeks.  I have some soreness in both my calves and my lower back.  I know that coming out of anesthesia completely takes a few days so it might just be something to do with that.

Anyway, I feel really good and I appreciate all of your kind words and supportive posts and messages.  I've had a really rough run lately and you guys have made me feel better.  I live to fight another day.

  9. Before you see a slew of sale posts from me, I'll go ahead and tell you the reason this is happening.  I had a stroke at the end of January that paralyzed my left arm.  Over the next few weeks of hard work and therapy I was recovering enough to give me confidence that I would be able to play guitar one day.  Within a couple of months I was playing.  It was sloppy and clunky, but I kept at it and actually started practicing with my band again.  I was able to play a one-hour opening slot in mid-April and my confidence was soaring.  I was probably 95% recovered for everyday life and about 70% for guitar.  I really couldn't play solos or fast single note passages but I was definitely getting there.  6 months in I felt like I was really kicking ass.  I'm in an AC/DC tribute band and was playing things like Beating Around the Bush and Riff Raff at a decent level.  Then the unthinkable happened - at the end of July I had another stroke.

It paralyzed my left arm again.  The neurologist I saw said she has only seen the affected area be nearly the same for two strokes in the same person once before in over 20 years of practice.  I couldn't tie my own shoes for a few weeks and couldn't button my pants for even longer, and it now been almost 8 weeks and I can't even form a chord on guitar.  This time it has also left me with no feeling in the median nerve region of my left hand (see pic - it's the areas in blue).  I can move all my fingers but they're weak and the movement is inaccurate.  When I try to do something that requires any kind of fine motor skills it's a struggle.  My fingers will flit around like I have some kind of palsy.  Thus, guitar playing is "right out" as Monty Python would say.

Over the nearly 40 years I've been playing, I've put together a decent collection of nice instruments. I'm not giving up on playing and will continue to try forever, but there's no need for me to hold on 25 guitars and basses.  I'm going to sell off a few now and if things haven't improved in six months or a year, I'll sell some more.  Trying to stay optimistic, I will never sell them all.  I will keep at least three or four just in case a miracle happens.  I'll make another post in this thread with my full collection and my current Hamer family so you can get an idea of what will be coming up.  Don't contact me about anything or try to call "dibs".  When I'm ready to sell, you will see a sale post on the For Sale board.

I alluded to the first stroke in someone else's thread months ago.  Some of you picked up on that and sent personal messages which I really appreciated. There are a lot of really good people here and that really meant a lot to me.

  10. I got one when I first started playing guitar in the mid/late 80's. It was THE thing to have back then, but I never really liked it from the start. After I got my first amp that could achieve tube distortion, I put it away and never played it again. Four or five years ago I sold it on reverb for ~$450 so at least it was a good investment.
