  1. Austin, this idea is really interesting me. I'm soon going to be doing my first coil split mod to a single humbucker using a mini toggle SPDT switch. Haven't received the pickup yet (Catswhisker WRHB) so not sure which of the below schematics I'll use (one is a south coil split and one is a north coil split). Any idea where I would put the resistor? Between the south start and ground?
  2. Wow, great ideas. I'm about to do my first coil split mod..thanks for the info.
  3. The beer is cheap and cold...nirvana. Wish I was closer and not so tied down. Have a great show.
  4. Sorry to hear it. Good luck to all those affected.
  5. I heard the Reverends are built in the same factory as the Dusenbergs? At the reasonable prices of the Reverends and the not so reasonable Dusenberg prices I was surprised. If you guys come out with a cool "workingman's guitar, I'd be interested. I like double cutaways.Good luck with it.
  6. Yep, Brent is a nice guy for sure. I know him from the Heritage site mostly. Hey Brent
  7. Leftover 2012 Am Std Strat RW board, Charcoal Frost.on blowout from Sam Ash. Minty 2011 LP Jr P90 Special with ebony board, Alpine White, a CL find. Also minty (seller said unplayed and I believe it), 2007 VOS CS Gibson SG Standard from a special run for GC, metal knob Grovers and no trem. Looks exactly like the 60 LP SG I had in high school. CL again. 2006 Lil Dawg 5E3 Tweed Deluxe 25W with a Maverick attenuator speaker and vintage tubes. Yup you guessed it, CL.
  8. FWIW, i have heard to remove the switch tip when shipping, not that there was any damage in this case from how it sounds. Glad it worked out. E Bay scares me for selling guitars.
  9. That's excactly our schpeel! I told him that going in, and he's like, I want $475 so I guess we can't do business. Tell him GC would probably give him $500 because they are a nation wide chain..
  10. I'm too indecisive to pick a #1. I can't even pick one to sell. You guys have some beauties.
  11. Back in high schoolin the 70s, some weird SS amp from the early 70s. Worked out good though when I traded it and some unplayable Harmony guitar for this new 73 Tele that I still have.
  12. Happy Birthday Stevieconlon and Shark
  13. I know the owner, good guy. There is only one guy at Heritage building these, Marv I believe (one of the old Gibson guys). Each one he does he says will be the last, played one once awesome guitars.
  14. Congrats, nice Special. I love my 93.
  15. I like the no spammers or scammers requests. Does that really keep them away? I agree on the "only played in my private studio" comments. Lots of folks seem to have their own studios lately.
  16. Sorry to hear the news. Hamers are great guitars and I hope to add another one day. I'm amazed how they fly under the radar while mass produced crapola sells.
  17. I'm a relative newbie here. I've known Brent on another forum and have met him as well. He is a good guy. It is also nice that some of you guys here kind of trade guitars amongst yourselves.Makes you good guys too. Lots of nice folks here, it is where I got my Hamer. Brent took a chance on an E bay deal that he found with all the inherent risk, bother, anxiety etc that is involved.Anyone of us had the same chance at this deal. He was discreet in not listing it here. The fact that he has extra money to feed his family and have a better x mas or what ever is fine, at least with me.
  18. So, that is serious work! Only a few manage to keep the stamp alive. And a stinger, I love stingers. Great restoration. Also, nice dark rosewood board. My 93 Special has a nice dark board, Hamers must have had a great source for wood.
  19. Anyone ever have a case that came with an epoxy type smell? Bought a new G&L several years back and the case still has a lingering smell. Should have returned it. The guitar is fine once it's out for an hour or so.
  20. Thorn, I just read your blog in its entirety. Words fail me. Cliches are not adequate. I am deeply touched to say the least. I pray that your family continues to find the strength to carry on and that the pain lessens over time. You should be very proud, Joel sounds like he was a great young man and he will always live in your heart. I am very sorry for your loss. I was glad to read towards the end of your notes that you had a brief feeling of joy, I hope they become more frequent. I want to thank you for sharing this, it is a valuable lesson in family, love, and so many other things we can take for granted too easily. God bless you. I am a stranger but actually no longer feel like one. Feel free to contact me anytime if I can help or listen or anything at all. Your writings I think will help me to be a better father..and thank you for that. Take care of yourself your son wants you to. Pete
  21. What an ass. The kid in the picture has more going for him then you ever will. Ass hole.
  22. I find it interesting with this Indian guy's bad rep that he keeps dealing under the same user name. Wouldn't a con man use an alias or change his online id somehow? Sounds like a sociopath, personality disorder type situation. And all over $30? Amazing. I am great at buying stuff but I have a bit of the hoarder gene when it comes to gear. When I do get ready to sell something this site (where I got my 93 Special) or the Heritage forum are the main two I would consider. Great bunch of folks there too.
  23. Very nice G man, looks to be in great shape. G&Ls are excellent, love my Legacy.
