  1. I don't have a Newport but I do have some experience with the Seth Lovers. Normally, those are not bright pickups. The A2 magnets and vintage PAF spec construction keep them pretty smooth and creamy. In fact, if a guitar was already bright and the owner wanted a PAF style pickup to smooth it up a bit, I would recommend a Seth Lover. I'm curious to hear what others chime in with, though.
  2. Sure, what the hell. I've only tried the 7 strng Custom in my old Ibanez RG1527. I'll give it another whirl if you're interested in a trade. Is it standard or tremspaced?
  3. It is way more scooped than the JB. The JB has that upper mid spike that really makes it seem overly bright to me. The Dimebucker has tons of low end chunk and tons of treble to cut through on those leads. It is great for metal riffs and ripping leads. However, I tend to play leads with my neck pickup, and I love more mids in a pickup. Plus, since I've been going more towards lower output pickups, my Distortions have been covering my high output pickup needs. I would say it has the low end of the Invader without being as dark. And it has the highs of the JB without being as bright.
  4. Don't know how much love I will get here for this pickup, but I'll give it a go. Seymour Duncan Dimebucker with full factory lead in great shape. It's a cool pickup, but it's just not for me. I've been evolving my tastes toward lower output pickups. Will sell for $60 shipped USPS Priority or will consider trades for PAF type humbuckers. Thanks for looking.
  5. This brings up a question about groups centered around a frontman. Take Ozzy or Yngwie. The band is constantly changing but the group is named after the frontman. Does this count? And with Megadeth, Dave Mustaine is the only remaining original member. Would the band be on the list if it was originally called the Dave Mustaine Band instead of Megadeth?
  6. No, he's not. And Jimmy likes exposure and money.
  7. For what it's worth, I have a Chavel 650xl which is the updated Model 6. The necks on those were a little thicker than the Model series. In fact, the neck on my Model 6 is the neck to which all other guitars are compared to. As far as bang for the buck goes, if you want a bolt on, you probably can't beat a Centaura. If you want a neck thru, the 650xl is the best deal going.
  8. Yeah, but I prefer "Michelle's" pictures better. (Otherwise known as Barbie Griffin) Too bad she didn't pose with a Hamer. She makes me happy in the pants.
  9. I've got a larger pic on my computer, and I think yu might be right about the Rolex. It looks damn close to the pic you posted. Nice eye.
  10. The acoustic in the second pic was just a cheap guitar the store had sitting next to the counter. After Jol grabbed the Studio Custom, he put it on that stan(you can see it in the background of the last pic) and one of the guys put the acoustic behind the counter out of the way.
  11. You know, I was trying to check it out and I couldn't quite get close enough to tell. I didn't get the nerve to ask him. But it was a nice watch, though.
  12. Well, I had the distinct pleasure of attending Mr. Dantzig's "Guru Tour" last night here in St. Louis. Let me start off by saying that both Mr. Danztig and Mr. Frank Rindone were true gentlemen and it was a real pleasure to meet and speak with them both. They are both two of the most down to earth guys, and were very approachable and easy to talk to. Mr. Dantzig is very passionate about the guitars he makes and it was very obvious by the way he spoke and presented. He started off by recapping the history of Hamer guitars from the very beginnings all the way to the current shop in Connecticut. This was done in conjunction with a slide show illustrating everything from the humble beginnings in the Grassroots shop, to a ton of pics of the famous artists who have played and endorsed Hamer guitars over the years. Aside from a few technical difficulties with the head-set microphone, it went along very well and was very informative and entertaining. Next, we went through a bit of a Q & A. I got to ask a couple of questions and have them answered in a very thorough and complete manner. Again, very informative. At the end of the night, those of us who brought in our Hamer guitars, got to have the man himself sign them. I wrestled with the choice of which one to bring, but in the end I decided on my '01 Artist Kornia HB that my wife bought me (he said that she's a keeper!). Mr. Dantzig expressed his like for the top on my particular Artist and commented on how attractive the grain was, flamed chevron pattern Korina. I had him sign the control cavity plate as I thought that would be the best place (I'm not much one for writing on the finish of my guitars). Again, it was an amazing experience to hear him talk about something I love. It was nice to know that the man who makes the guitars of which I am so fond, is so passionate about his craft. It really puts something special on top of the whole thing. Thanks so much again to Mr. Dantzig and Mr. Rindone for a great night of great guitars. So, without further ado, PICS!!! The beginning (nice wall o' Hamers huh?) Talking about the dovetail neck construction on a Studio Custom The man and me with my Artist Korina HB
  13. I'm in a big power metal phase right now, a lot of the bands from Europe. I don't know if I should feel guilty about that or not.
  14. Damn! That is scary. At least the thought of you in the shower is. Thanks, bro.
  15. Some people are just dumbasses. Others think that they can offer a certain price to make the whole process easier for both parties. I don't know, I've never sold anythign on ebay and I've never asked to end an auction early those rare times I do buy.
  16. I've got a pair of Pearly Gates in my Special FM and I really like them. Can anyone compare the BBQ to those at all?
  17. Who is it here that can sell those? Thanks a bunch.
  18. Charvel 650xl. I've had it the longest and every guitar I get is compared to it. It is a shred metal tone monster. Lately, my pair of Charvel 750xl's have been getting a little more play as well. I sold my two Hamer shredders so the 3 I have left are for my more mellow moods.
  19. Copy the following link and paste it in the address bar of your browser: http://www.m90.org/gallery/video/airguitar0-1349.wmv That still takes me to Google. WTF?!? Now it's going to be a total let down when I finally do get to see it.
  20. I'm still getting Google. What the hell?!?
