Jimbilly Posted July 22, 2024 Posted July 22, 2024 wow, they were just having/had a birthday party for him at a nearby casino Quote
beezerboy Posted July 23, 2024 Author Posted July 23, 2024 he is very very high on my list of all time greats and was an inspiration to me in the day. that first MG album came out just at the time I discovered "slinky" guitar strings (so THATS how they do that). the Grape was in the forefront of changing Rock music, that band was one of the originators of what became the "San Francisco sound". it sucks that they aren't in the R&R Hall of Fame when so many lesser acts are. pretty sure they could care less but anyway, RIP Jerry, you are still one of my heros and I play your music in my rotation even now. 2 Quote
princeofdarkness56 Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 I have been reading a few articles on the band since his passing. I remember them from back in the day as I was starting to get into rock at that time but I didn’t have any of their albums. It seems they were really on the cusp of something big when it went completely down the toilet. Usual suspects. Bad management and unhealthy choices. It seems the end came rather swiftly. Quote
