Know what I’m saying? KXK? Paging @diablo175

ETA: I’m thinking this occurred in the Bay Area as there’s mention of Emeryville and “up in the city” during the video.

None of those guitars interest me, but I'd sure like to know the back story.
Who was this guy who owned these guitars? Did he die?

The guy that ended up with this storage unit must have crapped himself when he opened the door.

My guess is this was inventory for a store.  Storage auctions can be fun.  My wife bought a unit for $700 one time.  It took me months to wade through all the shit.  I told her the next time she gets a bug up her ass to go to one of those sales, I'll just give her $700 to stay home.

I have 15 guitar boxes stacked at the top of my storage unit. Empty. But stacked lying flat so you can read brand names on the bottom flap from the door. I figure that if I don't make the payments someone will be really bummed about the great deal they thought they got.

I love the idea of laying the groundwork for a gag, knowing that you won't be there when it pays off, but it will get someone someday.
It's like planting a tree, knowing you won't live long enough to sit under it when it's fully grown.

Oh, that would be great if that was on pawn stars and those scavengers of human misery got into a bidding war!

Used to watch that STORAGE WARS show on TV. Those clowns just pissed me off to the point that I felt I owed it to humanity to slap one.

It will be fun even if I'm dead and burned when they get it.

I cracked up seeing the token Heritage, which the flipper actually bought!

I would’ve enjoyed yanking the EMGs out of the CS Gibson.

The seller threw that in, no charge.

Not sure if he is kidding: Heritage Freebee

With the same look on his face as in the video thumbnail.

He'd get a lot more views if he were pointing indiscriminately at something.

"I gotta buddy that knows everything there is to know about empty cardboard boxes with descriptions of collectible guitars scribbled on the end of each one.  I'll call him, get him down here and see what he says they're worth."

A buddy of mine had to go through his dad's stuff after he died.  His dad was a hoarder, and he had to go through everything because there'd be a pile of junk and then one thing that had value.  For instance, he had the console from an old car he'd owned.  With an old wallet inside with $200 cash.  Everything else was out of the wallet.  But he also had random stuff like a canoe paddle (never owned a boat) and an airplane propeller.

My buddy said, "Now I want to buy some random thing and just stash in the basement so when I die, my kids will come across it and wonder WTF it is and why I had it."  I said I wanted to put a note in a drawer for my kids to find that said "Do not get rid of <insert name of book I never owned> before you take the money out."

The dark side of all that is my father-in-law hid money in his house and told no one - including his kids and wife - where it was or how much there was, then he'd tell people he had some fortune hidden away.  He died w/o telling any of us what he had or where it was, and my MIL is still not sure if she found everything or if she sold some tool or machine with money in it.

Some of those gig bags looked rather moldy. Makes me wonder what the conditions were in the storage unit for all those years, and if that kind of humidity affected the necks, primarily. Not that I'll be buying any of those either, but it was interesting.

Know what I'm sayin'?

Jeeez. I can't decide whether it's from a collector or a dealer who was using that for overflow. But dang, that's a hell of a haul, even though most aren't my style. Someone really liked super strats, which I can understand. I'm also currently obsessed with super strats. They even had a Jason Becker model Carvin "Numbers" guitar, which I thought about getting for a while in my super strat obsession.

Kinda wish they would have opened the G&L cases. I mean, I get they aren't "custom" or "high end", but they definitely make some nice guitars, and some are pretty dang interesting.

Mostly stuff I wouldn't want, but a couple of those Jacksons and Charvels were pretty rad.

Boy HOWDY. That single pickup Charvel with the flamey neck? I nearly plotzed!

That one, the white LP Custom and the Chris Squire Rick would be about all I'd be interested in out of the lot.  I would love to know if they were able to get the mildew stank out of those things!

I think they all belonged to some player who finally realised that Floyd Rose systems are tone suckers, so he just left them there.

Wierd how everything was basically Schectery looking shredders and when they get to what

looked like a Gibson R8 or R9 (easiest sale in the whole unit) and they pass right by, nothing to see

here, move along... lol...    different strokes for different folks.

but impressive he fit all those cases in that little car.

Hmm.  I like the idea of coming into a metric shit ton of guitars that I could vet for keepers and sell the rest for a tidy sum. In reality, it'd likely be a sizable pain in the ass.

While I obviously appreciate shredders, I'm rather particular about what I like. I mean REALLY particular. While out visiting @DBraz in the UK last summer, we visited Peach Guitars, a rather sizable place with a massive inventory; a lot of them were "shredders"  I walked in there, fully prepared to buy a guitar (as a souvenir ;) ) and ended up walking out empty-handed because well, I'm picky.

Point is, I'd likely have spent a LOT of time going thru that storage unit and more than likely put 99% of it up for sale.

I rent storage units and know the law in my state.  Someone has to be sent a certified letter informing them of their stuff being auctioned.  Before that happens there are letters, phone calls, and e-mails.  People refuse to accept their certified letters.  They know what they have.  They know they owe money.  Why they let go of the stuff varies.

Didn't watch this but I'm skeptical.  For all we know, it could be a rando collection of guitars and a made-up story to drive clicks to his monetized youtube page.
