This morning my old backpacking brain kicked in and thought "what if guitar straps put the weight on your hips instead of your shoulders?" Of course, someone already thought of that. This one requires putting a hole in your guitar for their strap. If I had back problems I might give it a try.

I had a back injury 2 years ago, a collapsed vertebrae (T9 iirc), I'm still slowing improving, I bring a stool and sit as needed, which is less and less, little by little.   Lightweight instruments help too.  Something like the above might help but I'm getting by ok, if I was better at doing my pt, that would also help!

This is probably the most reasonable approach.

That approach also gives you the opportunity to reject guitars for sale that you couldn't afford to buy anyway, but still felt like grilling the seller about the weight.
