veatch Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Love it! But it's no wonder, given that I am also a member of the FOF club. (Fraternal Order of the Flatulent) 1 1 Quote
veatch Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 ... though I'm disappointed in the lack of a drum solo in Moby Dick.... 2 Quote
hamerhead Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 (edited) Kinda miss the spaceout/freakout section of Whole Lotta Love, too. ETA: Living Loving Maid made me laugh out loud. Edited December 11, 2024 by hamerhead 2 Quote
tommy p Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 OK, I'll be the dissenting voice. I hate it. I like these when they retain the original chord changes and melodies and just change the style, but many of these (like this one) don't. If it weren't for the lyrics no one could even guess what those songs are by listening to the music. There's an older black guy that used to do videos where he gets into every song he hears in the grocery store and I was impressed by his taste and musical knowledge. I liked watching him and then he started doing these "What if Metallica (or whatever band he chooses) were Yacht Rock?" videos and I absolutely can't stand them. Again, no resemblance to the original song whatsoever except the lyrics. 3 2 Quote
hamerhead Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I sent this to a former co-worker who is nuts for all thing LZ - has all the bootlegs and videos and anything else they ever did, even as solo artists - thinking he would at least give it a 'WTF?'. He loved it. 1 Quote
Hackubus Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Whole Lotta Love straight slaps as the yoof would say. Didn't care for the rest of it, however. Quote
cmatthes Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I actually enjoyed it. The singer sounds a bit like a young(er) Nick Lowe. Quote
DaveH Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 "Led Zepplin ll like you've never heard it!" Actually, it's like I never wanted to hear it. 😂 1 2 Quote

That Yacht Rock channel also got old real quick for the reason you noted. I don't really care about feeding something into an AI engine and getting a completely different song with the same lyrics. It was funny once, but it's a bit like pulling a quarter from an ear. It's fun once. After awhile, it's just hack. 1 Quote
