Camstone Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 I know a lot of you guys are in the Midwest. There's a guitar at Dave's that I am lusting over. They have had it for sale for quite a while. It's on Reverb but there's no "Make an Offer" option. Are the prices at Dave's negotiable? Is it worth calling them up and making an offer? Thanks!

Especially if it has been there "for quite a while." Dave is great to deal with. I bought several guitars from him over the years.
velorush Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 I am afraid to call about the black Prototype they've had for several months. I'm afraid they'd take me up on my offer.
hamerhead Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 We were just there a week ago Tuesday. And the Sun Prairie store the Friday before that. I know - I'm spoiled. I didn't get any guitars at either place, but I picked up 3 small bass amps (long story) in Sun Prairie. They were already surprisingly well-priced, and they knocked another $70 off for all three. Definitely call them. My deals there have been pretty great and you should do better than Reverb (no added fees). The La Crosse store should be a bucket list pilgrimage for every living guitarist on this planet.
murkat Posted March 6, 2025 Posted March 6, 2025 Call them, they deal better than average. Top shelf.
DaveL Posted March 7, 2025 Posted March 7, 2025 You also need to watch the site closely. A lot of times they put “priced to sell” prices up and the stuff moves quickly. Like any cool music shop should.
HoboMan Posted March 7, 2025 Posted March 7, 2025 Never hurts to ask. My favorite tactic is to get them a low as I can go and then tell them I have my credit card in my hand. If they can take another $50 off I'll buy right now.

I've never been to the original La Crosse location but now that I live in Madison the Sun Prairie location is only a 30 minutes from me. I just had the frets leveled on my Les Paul by them. They do amazing fretwork.

I don't know anybody in the immediate area but if you feel like driving to Elgin IL Scott at FatCat guitars does really good work. He's done 4 stainless steel refrets for me over the years. All have been amazing. https://www.fatcatcustomguitars.com/
