The slime green Charvel San Dimas I posted about was the victor in a tug of war between purchasing it or one of these new Jacksons. In the end, they're essentially the same guitar. But the Charvel had the advantage of being US made, featuring a Schaller Floyd (vs. 1000) more preferable pickups (PATB vs J-50B) a hard case, and the more appealing head stock and finish color. YMMV.

I do really like some of the new Charvel pro mods. The pink H/H with the fixed bridge is tempting…

The Charvel and EVH stuff coming out of Mexico is solid I think. I imagine these will be too. 

That being said, I'm glad I have a real, pre-Fender soloist still.

A friend had 2 Soloists in the 80s.  One kind of a purplish color and another that had a graphic.  Both played like melted butter.
