96 Phantom (prototype) tone circuit

I have looked around for a schematic for the phantom/prototype with no luck. 
the current tone control seems less effective than my similar age Phantom custom. 
I am thinking going to a no load tone pot with a .039 uF cap in a 50s style arrangement.

does anyone have any tips?

If you don’t like the stock configuration all you can do is experiment. There isn’t any difference between a Phantom and Phantom Custom from the factory as far as the tone pot or cap spec. 

From an older thread, but the Original Proto and newer Phantom should be the same. I have owned my fair share of both, the original Prototype is one of, if not my favorite Hamer.
