Local guy bought this and a good friend now has it. Needed strings and a proper setup. Big Ass Neck upper with the Hardtail Kahler. Didn’t plug it in.  Not for me but I thought about it for a minute. Head doesn’t come off and no case. And yes it has usa after the logo. IMG_2733.jpegIMG_2729.jpegIMG_2731.jpegIMG_2737.jpeg

Needs chainsawing.  That and every one with HAMER USA labeling that didn't roll out of Northern Prairie Music, Palatine, Arlington Heights or New Hartford.

I filed complaints against that outfit last year. Neither ebay nor US customs would do anything.

Good on ya for trying.  I think the world understands that we're not serious about protecting IP.

I gotta gripe.

The Orphan Works Act passed by Congress was opposed by groups like The Graphic Artists Guild.  It was a license to steal for book and magazine publishers because there was no way to police what was considered a "reasonable search" for a copyright owner.

Maybe we should all file complaints against this company and Ebay.

When I filed it was for a Glenn Tipton Phantom copy. Rare Hamer Phantom Glenn Tipton Metallic Black Electric Guitar Slanted Pickup | eBay

I got an F Off from eBay and a "sorry we can't fix that' from Customs.

Back then, the guy in charge may have been sleeping in the corner when the complaint came across his desk. There's a new sheriff in town and if enough folks complain about poor enforcement of trade violations something might be done. Probably not, but maybe.

I did get a message at the time that indicated that about the only complaints that could be enforced would have to come from the company that owned the copy rights. And they don't seem to care.

I understand that a copyright owner should be at the front of the line claiming protection, but those who own the real deal are also harmed by counterfeits in that the value of what they own is diluted (or polluted?).

Maybe there are other ways to find the CARE knob and turn it up.  Some online marketplaces might care about not being known as a venue for shady stuff, but that ship might have sailed already for eBay.  Publicly shaming them on social media works for some companies, sometimes, although maybe more by onesies and twosies - "the airline lost my luggage and gives me the runaround instead of paying up" or "the insurance company refuses to cover this medication that my three doctors say is necessary" - rather than by slicing off a potentially substantial portion of its sales.

Musing a moment more before getting back to what I should be doing, maybe this is an opportunity for AI.  I have heard it said that policing bad actors in online marketplaces is very hard/impossible because there aren't enough organic eyeballs to examine all of it. My perception of AI is that it can be trained to find patterns and flag them, and then quickly and tirelessly churn through mountains of data.  Then you have a short list for the eyeballs.

Of course, that doesn't excuse the absence of reaction when some of us pull at their sleeve and say "Look at that!"  I think the CARE knob's low setting is less about looking for fraud than about rooting it out and foregoing their cut of it.

UMM ERR…. Umm This has ended up at my house. 👀

Just brought it home this afternoon and haven’t even plugged it in. 😄☺️😵‍💫

Heavy beast sitting on my knee tuning it a little while ago. Might make a hanger for it since it has no case. It was standing on the necks earlier before it came here.

Fotgot to mention it was gifted to me  🔥

😎👍❤️🏁

That one actually looks more correct than mine. Mine does not have the black checkerboard or the black on the back of the head stocks, but it’s fun and it was free. I’ll take it and yeah, I absolutely agree with everyone about the counterfeit stuff. It is a little tough to look at that head stock with the USA after  the Hamer logo. Anyone buying one of these and thinking it’s a real Hamer USA in the aftermarket has not been paying attention to the fact that the company is gone and the fact that they would never have made one of these for one of us.  😄😵‍💫☺️
