BLuesBuster Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 That Phantom is 'da bomb. I already have one so I can guarantee that.
geoff_hartwell Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 That finish makes me crazy! Why would they DO that to such a great guitar? Oh well. Something for everyone. Got any Eclipses in someting not candy-coated?
atquinn Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 That finish makes me crazy! Why would they DO that to such a great guitar? Different strokes for dfferent folks I guess. I think that's one of the coolest guitar finishes I've ever seen! I hope someone buys it soon; my resolve is starting to wear thin.-Austin
geoff_hartwell Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Like I said Austin, something for everyone It's a killer price on a KILLER guitar. I love mine to death.

They intonate beautifully, and that is a great price on that guitar. What's fun is to convert it to a P-90 in the bridge......

They intonate beautifully, and that is a great price on that guitar. What's fun is to convert it to a P-90 in the bridge...... I wondered about that, and also wondered what it would be like to be able to mix levels on the pickups, so I lifted a set of Eclipse pickups and put 'em in a Special, just for grits and shins. That was about 5 months ago and the P-90's ain't made it back in to that Special. Testament to those Eclipse Duncans. And the Eclipses intonate just fine.
Guest pirateflynn Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 My Eclipse STAYED in tune better than any other guitar I've owned.
sw686blue Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 but would like to be able to intonate my guitars... You could always put on a Pigtail wraparound intonatable bridge.
Moose Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 My Eclipse STAYED in tune better than any other guitar I've owned.Still does. I pulled it out last night after it being packed in its case for a month and moved to my new house by my gorilla of a brother and beastly friends (rough roadies, but damned efficient house movers) and I think I had to just touch the tuner on the low E, which was only a few cents out. It's a fine workhorse of a guitar.
saxmanjack Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Wow, Olney is only about 15 minutes away from me (I'm in Clarksville). Is the Eclipse at your store? Anyway, nice to know there's a Hamer dealer so close...Jack
sw686blue Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 I don't have to say it, do I? I think you need to say it.
BCR Greg Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 I wrote it, I'll say it.Intonation is for pussies. Intonate an acoustic sometime. There, I said it.
saxmanjack Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Had to run some errands, so I rocketed over to Olney to test drive the candy green machine. Nice guitar, love the sound of those pickups - bridge isn't the typical overdone ice-pick-twang as on most guitars. Noticed a ding on lower edge, otherwise a very clean ax. Neck seemed slinkier than typical for mid-90's set- neck Hamers. This Eclipse might have followed me home if I my PRS would have sold. Sorry, didn't check the intonation. Overall, I was impressed with Dave's store. Reminds me of those cool little shops you used to see alot more of ten years ago...

DavidE Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Let me know when you're ready to give away the PMS Custom 24. For some reason, I'm not a fan of the sunburst on the PRS's, but my CU22 has become my #1 gigging guitar. 90% of the time I have a Hamer with it and play the Hamer for a set.
pesocaster Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 What is the scale length on the Phantom???
Riffer Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Love that Eclipse! Damn it. I just bought a new plank

saxmanjack Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Well, I mentioned that I have a PRS for sale, but its a SAS, not a CU24, and I'll just keep it before I give it away...
