peedenmark7 Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 kiz, send me the hemi GMP and go for that standard... I think the sellers has been pretty honest and upfront , he's told us theres been a refret which most wouldnt even think twice about hiding... I do know the guy that did the refret... Agreed (about the seller's apparent honesty, that is). The glass-is-half-empty guy in me is still waiting for the "This auction has ended early" tag at the top of the page, though. I know you want the HEMIBIRD (how many times do I have to tell you: it's ALWAYS spelled IN CAPS!), but it wouldn't get me half way there, even if I did want to go for it. Anyway, the guitar is worth more to me then a 4 digit is worth to most others. I know you love that HEMIBIRD [better?] I'm smitten !!!!!! and it wouldnt hurt so much.... its just that I have the damn truck that matches it !!!
linered Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Hi guys! The auction is NOT GOING TO END EARLY...I've already passed on several fair offers. My Hamer on eBayPlease, if you have any questions, ask before Thursday night. I'll be hunting and then going to the Packer game, so the last thing on my mind will be this damn computer.Lots of nice guit pics on this site! Whew!Hey peedenmark7, you saw this guitar in Rockhaus, many moons ago, when I was setting it up. Greg owned the store then. Small world, howzit goin? Thanks for the interest, Jay
peedenmark7 Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 the guitar looks familiar for sure.....[call me at the game I believe we are going, hook up for some beers]I miss greg ! he was always a great guy to deal with...damn, he sold me some really cool stuff for very reasonable money !!!I hear he's in D.C. ? I saw him at a milwaukee admirals game just before he sold... mentioned nothing about it, we just talked hockey...wonder if he's dealing guitars.... would like to find him and get some fresh east coast action going !!!!!...I havent been in rockhaus since summer , I';ll have to stop in and see rusty one of these days !!!
serial Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 THAT's where I've seen that one before!!! Rockhaus. Linerd, what band are/were you in? I remember seeing this on a band website years ago. Wisconsin fo sho. This one oughta get interesting!
linered Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 I'm in Couch Flambeau. I used that Standard when Chick Treat would play (Fab Cheap Trick Tribute w/ Ron Faiola, Dan Kubinski, Greg Kurczewski and me).Trust me, it needed a fret job when I bought it in the 80's.I really like it, but I'm just thinning the herd a little bit.
serial Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Refrets have never seemed to affect the price of an old Standard that I'm aware of. Half of the ones I've had have been refretted. I'm down to three and one (the oldest and the cleanest Standard I've ever seen) was refretted in 1978 with larger frets. That was more preference than necessity though-had to have been because the guitar's in such great shape.
stevemec Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 "Refrets...I've had a few...but then again...too few to mention." _ Sinatra, wasn't it?
serial Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 Now that's VICIOUS!!It fits seamlessly between the second chorus of "I Wanna Be Sedated" and the modulation-up verse of that song. Nice thematic match as well.
linered Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 God, I'll bet that sounds cool as hell! THIS sounds cool as hell...
stevemec Posted November 15, 2006 Posted November 15, 2006 God, I'll bet that sounds cool as hell! THIS sounds cool as hell... I'm sure I'd agree.
BTMN Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I know money is a needed thing sometimes and downsizing is cool for some folks too but MAN!!! To sweet for me to part with if it was mine. Welcome to the Madhouse.
serial Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Couch Flambeau it was indeed! Uh the red Marshall is extremely droolworthy too!
hamerboy_ Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Mmmm... JMP MV's. My favorite flavor!-Bobby
linered Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 "Q: I have a MINT Washburn USA Custom Shop P4 (CT4) Cherry burst, AAA maple top on mahogany. Nuno Bettencourt modified Les Paul...etc, etc, etc...That's YOUR problem!Well, that's what I was going to say. It's best to be tactful in these troubled times, me thinks.Hi, Can you tell me the weight of this beauty? Thanks for your time.Jeez, now I have to weigh the thing? I guess it's for another "possible buyer" but, like, if it weighs more than 7 pounds you wont buy it? Good grief...I could always suggest he chamber out the back to save 2 lbs.
kizanski Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Hi, Can you tell me the weight of this beauty? Thanks for your time.Jeez, now I have to weigh the thing? I guess it's for another "possible buyer" but, like, if it weighs more than 7 pounds you wont buy it? Good grief...I asked Jim Singleton (Jim's Guitars in Baltimore) at the Philly Guitar show a couple of years ago why he never let anyone play any of the guitars he had displayed for sale.He laughed and said, "Because Kiz, Tryers ain't Buyers and Players ain't Payers."What's it weigh?Too much for you, girlieman. That's what it weighs.
