black magic Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I am thinking of getting one of these for some chorus and they are only $3.00 in price difference. which do you guys prefer and why? The CH-1 is the pricier one. Thanks-Jack.
Jeroen Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 I have the CE-3. Used it a lot in my "early days" before I was using the Zooms and Digitechs. I don't know which one is better, I believe the other, cause people always told me that I had the wrong one....heheheIt's a nice chorus, but nothing more.Jeroen
DaveH Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Jack, I have a CE-5 (Chorus Ensemble) and a CH-1 Chorus. I like the CE-5 over the CH-1. It seems a bit smoother (and maybe lusher), but it also gives you more control of the tone. It's more than a few dollars difference in price, seems like maybe $20 or so, but definitely worth it in my opinion. I say check out a CE-5 before you buy.
black magic Posted April 14, 2007 Author Posted April 14, 2007 I appreciate the info fellas I can both with a Free 10 foot cable and Free Shipping for Ch-1 $77.77 and the CE-5 for $74.99. With that little of a price difference, I would imagine it is all in the tone you prefer and the one can be used in Stereo. Thanks-Jack.
MTM105 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I've read the best chorus is the one that sounds the least, which I might think is the Ensemble. The original is the 1970's Judas Priest Another Thing Coming which slaps you across your face.Page recorded the first chorus with the rotating speaker thing on Black Dog. Rather cumbersome effect. Like a spinning Leslie.
Guest Mike Lee Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Harrison and Clapton did the guitar through Leslie thing first - on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and Badge. Not sure who's idea it was, but it's a cool sound.Jack,Go somewhere and try both pedals and pick the one you like the sound of best. Don't listen to any of our opinions, you're the one that needs to be happy with the one you choose. That said, the best chorus tone I've ever gotten was the "detune" setting on a Whammy II pedal. Chorus tone without the warble. But I've learned to hate chorus, so my opinion means even less.
