Phantom GT wanted

If anyone has a Phantom GT around or knows of one, I would like to purchase one. Hamer won't let me order one, right?

You are correct - its been 20 years or so since they made that kind of Phantom. GTs are fairly hard to find. You would likely have better luck getting a Phantom A5, and removing two of the pickups. A new pickguard and a "normal" pickup ring gets you pretty much there. For gigging, the middle and neck pickups are REALLY useful, though....

GTs are SOOO cool though!

Cool Phantom, but that one is different from a GT in several ways. Most notably, GTs have a 6-in-line headstock and Kahler and a HB in the bridge position.

Kummer's is a long-time, highly-regarded dealer. The proprietor knows a thing or two about vintage guitars!

Thanks for the replies. I think the phantom pictured above is cool, but I am holding out specifically for a Glenn Tipton Phantom. I am willing to pay for a good one if someone wants to make a little profit. Thanks!

Good question. I have REQUESTED that I be banned but was told no, so it must take a real special act to get tossed. :P While there is no specific code of conduct or clearly defined lines apart from a request to observe common decency, I think the moderators know how to deal with the type of person who would turn this place into a cesspool (like many other forums). I wasn't around at the time he got banished but from what I heard he basically had a meltdown of chernobyl proportions on the HFC and was posting very innapropriate material on the board after repeatedly being asked to stop. Basically you really have to act like an asshole on the HFC to get banned. That said though, he was a good person to deal with when I sold the guitar to him so I'd still recommend trying to track him down.

I sold my Vector KK to him and it was great dealing with him. I knew he sold it forward later. I still should have his email at home.

Edited to add a link to my topic about the Vector KK --just in the case you would want some more porn: http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20653

There was a banished board member that had a few of them.

Just curious, but how does someone get banished from the board? Is there an issue of trustworthiness associated with a member who has been kicked?

He got baninshed for being a flaming a-hole on this board :P

However, I haven't seen any evidence from his auctions/sales on other boards that he is anything other than trustworthy when it comes to buying and selling. He refinishes Hamers and sells them on eBay from time to time. Does excellent work from what I can tell.

Thanks!

The seller mentions a previous owner "added a tone control and coil tap." I hate to display my ignorance so openly, but what work does this involve? I assume routing and wiring, meaning the guitar has been jacked with, meaning the BIN price seems high.

Does anyone have thoughts on this?

You are correct. However, even if it wasn't jacked with, the BIN price is high.

Not high enough, apparently! Somebody hit the BIN at $1,400.

:P

(Seller is an HFC member, btw)

OK, back to the drawing board.

I wonder why the seller didn't try this board first? Especially if he was willing to accept a "buy it now" price, rather than letting the auction run.
