Insane Redwood Top

It says it's 1/4" think so it would have to be for a top. I like it!

It's got a really strange 3D quality to it - it looks like an electron microscope picture of lung tissue or something equally unpleasant... or the pictures of the Red Weed from the illustrations for Jeff Waynes "War of the Worlds" album.

I have never liked that type of figuring. Is burl really redwood? I don't think they are the same thing, but I could be wrong.

If you were going with redwood, Nik Huber can't be touched.

It's an incredibly interesting top. My first reaction was also that it looked too eerie, but the more i looked at it, the more i wondered how it would look on a guitar.

In the end, i didn't bid. Redwood is hard enough to work with, i can't imagine how *that* piece will work. With my remedial skills, i'd end up making toothpicks out of it. (and i need another project like a hole in the head...)

The same seller sold this top (CLICK) a while back, which is a little more interesting, but looks like from the same wood.

I did get around to doing a Google and found a pic of a guitar with a redwood burl top. Again, interesting and unique:

All "luncaster" aside, based upon that pic, i think i like it. Yes sir, i do.
