killerteddybear Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 As much as I love Sheldon Dingwall's work, I'm not a six-string player and this bass is getting no love. There's one tiny ding on the back of the upper body (where you'd rest your right hand) otherwise it's clean. Scale length varies from 32" on the high C to 37" on the low B. Don't let the fanned frets scare you, these play easier than you'd think. String spacing at the bridge is (I believe) 18mm. I'm asking $1550 shipped CONUS. Includes a Freedom case (made for this bass), case candy, and a set of strings. Preferred trades would be a Kinal fretted 5-string or a five string AB-I, but go ahead and offer whatever... All pics are here: http://s28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...String%20Bass/ Maybe a little mode detail is in order. Soft maple body, flame maple cap, maple neck, I don't recall the fingerboard material. Dingwall designed pickups. Controls are volume, tone, a four position rotary switch (neck, series, parallel and bridge), and a switch for a passive Blue Qube that scoops the midrange. String tension across the neck is very even because of the varied scale length. The B string has a tone that is to die for.
JohnnyB Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 The Bass store where I bought my orange ASAT bass is a Dingwall dealer. I'm really impressed. They make the Leland Sklar signature model.
