Sam Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 That second one has been up for sale three times (by different sellers) in the last 6 months. Wonder what's up with that.Edit:This one is a bit over priced, though one of the better BE tops out there:http://cgi.ebay.com/Hamer-Newport-Pro-BE-S...=item45eef9960b
burningyen Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Yeah, Newport 90s are hard to find, so I wonder why that one is getting passed around so much. Anyone here familiar with that particular one?

nervous Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 I think that the prior listings were at a much higher price.
Sam Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I think that the prior listings were at a much higher price. The current seller tried it at a higher price - no interest. The two previous times it sold for $1000 (best offer) and more recently at $1025 at full auction. I'd consider becoming the fifth owner, though you have to wonder why it's been up for sale so many times in such a short period of time.
tomteriffic Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Maybe in that kind of price range it was seen as an easy flip that didn't pan out that way?
JohnnyB Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Maybe in that kind of price range it was seen as an easy flip that didn't pan out that way?Or the buyer is in a loud band and couldn't control the feedback or was disappointed with the return to pitch after yanking the Bigsby? It's harder to control feedback at a loud rehearsal in a small space where you're facing each other than when you're on stage and the speakers are behind you.
GaryT Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Take a look at how many auctions the Seller has going? He thought he bought it at a Steal and was going to make a profit. Its a $1000. NP-90. And I doubt there a thing wrong with it.

And I doubt there a thing wrong with it.That Newport 90 would be my pick of the bunch. If I were in the market ...That thing would have everything that people love about the early '90s Specials, plus lighter weight, classier trim, more dimensional sound and way wider range of tones.
GaryT Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I agree, do they all have Double bound bodys like this one? Hard not to like that guitar.
JohnnyB Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I agree, do they all have Double bound bodys like this one? Hard not to like that guitar. I never noticed that before; evidently the double-bound body is a standard feature exclusive to the Newport 90. It sure looks cool in black; kind of like a mini-Lucille (Willcutt).
nervous Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ME:B:SS:US:1123Hmm, what happened to this one? Was $750.00 a while ago with no reserve. Now it's over w/ no indication of an early ending by the lister or sale...
specialk Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 http://cgi.ebay.com/HAMER-NEWPORT-PRO-W-LO...=item1e58ef6812I'm glad I didn't click on this link until the auction was over! It's just about f'n perfect IMHO.

GaryT Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I was watching this on Ebay. I can't understand how the owner did this. You could end an auction early with no-bids. But that wasn't the case with this NP. How he also ended the auction without a reason posted is also beyond me? .........Flea-bay........
Sam Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I can't understand how the owner did this. Really? It's common eBay practice.

GaryT Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I know, the exact type of seller that has Ebay in the shape its in. Just enough electric guitar knowledge to be dangerous.BTW you guys see the Black T-51 that sold for $570. That was a decent deal at completely stock and excellent cond. Well he swapped the PG. But thats a small thing.
