LostArt
Well Fender has let Jol go. No word if it is temporary or permanent. and I have no other detailsWhat this makes for the future of Hamer who knows.
veatch
Wow. I was wondering why the link from Hamer Guitars to Jol's blog was severed.

Disturber
WTF! What kinda idiots are these people. They should just sell him the brand back.edit; I can hear the conversation they had, Jol You can not do this to my company, Fender rep Your company! We own Hamer. Here is a cardboard box, you have 20 minutes to clear your office, then you will be escorted out of the building. Exit, thank you - and goodbye. F*ckers! gorch
Is that it? Looking back, it seemed to be a forecast that Jol did not attend NAMM.
sonic1974
Wow! This is not good. Won't be the same without him. I wonder if he'll still be involved in the guitar industry in some way. Maybe he'll concentrate on cars. Is this the end of Hamer?
specialk
Is this the end of Hamer?Good question. The company didn't die when Paul (Hamer) left.....
bruce919
I am just speculating here. It’s been said in the past the Jol was an employee. He was the creative force of the company. No question. He has a NO compromise outlook on building guitars. MAYBE Fender is wanting to building things there were not in the direction of Jol’s vision of Hamer, or maybe there just cutting cost???? WE might see things from Hamer that have not been built in a long time or we may just see nothing.
HAMERMAN
That sucks! It's obvious that Jol had a big picture view of the direction Hamer should be going in. I doubt he has much "give" on that vision so perhaps it was only a matter of time; basically as long as it took to bump up against a higher up at FMC who had a very different vision and wasn't willing to yieid. We might see things from Hamer that have not been built in a long time or we may just see nothing. From an 80's loving perspective I can hope for that but still doubt it given what fender and Jackson already have to offer. eightyfour
Is there anything solid to suggest that perhaps after more than 30 years of Hamer Jol simply hasn't chosen to go live on beach somewhere and drink Tequila with Buffet?

zorrow
WTF!!! Well, I guess now the party is really over. Probably the Hamer brand will survive the founder, but it will never be the same again.
mirrorimij
I'm really saddened to hear that. It is the end of an era. I wonder how this will affect the guys that are left? Jol did his best to make that place a shop (instead of a factory). I hope that continues for the sake of the other guys. I'd like to see the company privately held again. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him. Good luck to you if you are reading this.

specialk
Good thing I don't own any Fender guitars right now. I'd be tempted to sell them just for the hell of it! And that would suck for me if I really liked it. Hopefully we'll get more info on what/why happened and what plans are in store for the future. Gee, thanks Fender!
