'96 Studio Custom '59 Burst

I will regret this, but i'm moving to thicker necks...

96-Studio-01.jpg

Very clean, but not a museum piece. Solid body (no chambering, but no, i do not have X-rays to proove it...), very nice top with a subtle '59 burst. I just put the original pups back in (at least they were what was in it when i got it...). 59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge. Modern carve neck, not too skinny, but not thick. (if it were vintage carve thick, there's no way i'd be selling it...) I can take measurements for those interested (i think it was in the 0.75 to 0.80 range). Monster player - especially for solos. Not as articulate on the chording as the Artist or a chambered Studio, but solos scream on this one.

No breaks, etc. It has minor scratches and dings, but very clean for a 14 year old. There was a binding repair on it when i got it. You can definitely see it when looking at it, but not so much 2 feet away, and not at all from the stage. Haven't had any issue with it the 4 years i've had this guitar, so i'd say it's a stable repair.

A bit of "pizza day" on the back, including a couple of spots on the neck. Not too noticeable inside, but they are *really* obvious in outside light.

As you can see in the pic, i top wrap the bridge. That does leave light scratches on the tailpiece. If the buyer does not top wrap, i will include an extra tailpiece when i ship, just send me back the tailpiece that 's on it next time you change strings.

The input jack is a bit loose, but works well on switchcraft plugs, which is about all i use. If the buyer doesn't use switchcraft, i can swap out the plug before shipping.

Original case in good shape. Couple of scratches, etc, but no smoke, beer, or cat litter box smells.

I have a slew of additional pictures and a few audio clips for interested buyers.

I paid $1350 (plus tax) 4 years ago. eBay starting price is the HFC approved $350.

If i have time later tonight, i'll throw some more pics out.

A few more pics and a clear look at the issues listed above:

The binding repair - looks like it pulled from the side and was re-glued. It's smooth to the touch. I see no evidence of a drop or impact. It's about an inch long stretch in the upper part of the top:

Glamor shot bump, and a much better look at the figuring on the top (i'll learn how to operate a camera one of these days...).

I had to hold off on sending it to eBay. It will go to the bay on Friday.

I received an email asking about the "pizza day" on the back of the guitar. What i am calling the "pizza day" marks are the discolored dots. The other light spots in the picture is a reflection of the clouds.

The pic below should clarify it a bit, and i've added a couple of indoor shots as well.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.

All of the pizza day marks are on the back and are less noticeable in indoor light. The are noticeable in outdoor light which is why i took the pictures there, so you can see the worst of it.

Thanks, Jeff.

My usual offer stands for this one: Free shipping in continental US for HFC members in good standing. You must have 10 posts before this post to qualify. Send me a PM or email prior to the end of the auction with your HFC ID and your eBay ID so i know to apply the discount if you win.

Also, the auction is limited to the US, but if you're a non-US HFC member interested in bidding, let me know.

Nice guitar, hate to see you get rid of it....I hope you got what you wanted for it. Btw (and I guess it's really moot now), those guitars were actually known as the Archtop Custom in 1996....the Studio name came a little later (not sure when?). Great guitars though. I have one very much like it (it even has pizza day on the back too!), and it has a better vibe to it than my '04 Studio Custom.
