The $100 Yamaha...

...is not too shabby when recorded...anyway, a tune for y'all to celebrate my return to fancy lad wig music. I cheated and edited out mistakes, and then compressed and reverb'ed it to death, but still it's a step forward. I didn't put nearly as much time into this as the last one, but it feels good to revisit an old favorite and not get too frustrated.

This is a very easy student level study by Sor (Op 35, No 17), but it's a "welcome home" for me. JeffRo is giving the Axis its much-needed stagesechs, and I get to return to the corner and wank around with my nylons.

I love this stuff. I feel free (telling others is a major part of my psychoanalyst's advice).

Don't worry - it's short.

Thanks for listening. I'm not even sure the guitar is in tune, but it's close enough for classical. Also, I could stand to put on some new strings. And the mic was too close. And it should have been played faster. And, well, lots of stuff, but it's all ok.

The best sounding corner nylon wank session I have ever heard.

You have such a light touch... magic hands?

I take it you didn't use the tab for this one.

I don't have tab for it, but it would be easy enough to do if someone was interested (though I suspect it's available on the net with ease too).

This is really a novice level study - eight year olds the world over play this one - I think if you tried it you'd realize how straightforward it is. Still, like Bach, Sor (and Carcassi and others) managed to get very nice music out of their exercises. So many of these studies are really not tough to play, but they sound very nice.

I'll go look for some tab...

EDIT: Hereya go - this looks right I think: http://www.classtab.org/sor_op35_no17.txt

That site seems to have a lot of CG stuff in tab. I can't follow tab all that well, but I think that's at least showing the right notes. If someone wanted, I'd be happy to try to come up with something with more thorough instructions (fingering, dynamics, etc). I've never done it before, so it could be fun.

Very nice. And someone needs to make an album called "fancy lad wig music"

I think it woulda sounded better with a whammy bar.

Everything sounds better with a whammy bar.

Nicely done, Mitch! You can come out of the corner now...

Wow, good stuff Mitch! Thanks for posting that. I see now why you'd want to concentrate on nylon strings. You have a good touch.

Of course, JGale had some good advice in his earlier post in this thread,

I am trying to play it just like you are, I'll just try and cop your dynamics. I'm a good mimic.

But... I just picked it up ten minutes ago (yer axe is tuned to D?) I actually think it sounds better tuned lower though. Boy, the first 4 seconds are kicking my ass!
