Plugging Switch holes

Craig S

Question

Posted

I'm getting a guitar that somebody decided to install 3 mini toggles.. I'd like to wire in some push/pulls and remove the minis... what should I do with the holes if I remove the switches... 1. Think of them as mini f holes and enjoy the moving air? 2. don't bother, use the switches... 3. Someone suggest a good method of filing and sealing the holes. I was thinking I could use a hole saw to make some plugs that would have a grain pattern, match the color and use the super glue method to reseal and finish(guitar is flametop 59' burst)...

From a cosmetic perspective I think using the 3 switches is going to look the best.

If you decide to plug them, Home Depot sells many different sizes of maple dowels that you could use to plug the holes.

Dowels would show only end grain so the match would be poor. The hole saw plugs would work better.

Push pulls are a great way to avoid drilling holes for switches, but if you've got the holes, use the holes :)

280706909322 ebay item might work. Wood plugs that are used to cover screw holes are another option.
