This will probably tick someone off, but Revolution by The Beatles has a very abrasive guitar tone that grates on my nerves.

Also, I think nearly everything I've ever recorded has crappy tone. I don't what it is, but I just can't seem to get it right on tape.

Oh yeah?

How about that crappy guitar and amp combo that Esteban is peddling on HSN?

Dude! Talk about a crappy distorted tone! After he demo'ed it on t.v. I got nauseous and actually threw up a little in my mouth! :)

Also...you guys gotta remember when DiMeola and The Beatles recorded their albums the production techniques that are around today weren't around back then. Al D. played a Les Paul through a Marshall and he's an amazing player. Can you make that combo sound better than he can? Seriously now.....

You wanna hear crappy distortion? Listen to anything by Venom or get an Esteban amp and guitar combo!

Beverly Hills 90210 Theme (sickening)

Slash's tone in Black or White with Michael Jackson (nasal city)

Guest Mike Lee

Ritchie Sambora had the worst tone in the 80's on the Slippery When Wet album. Did he really use those KMD amps he pimped in the ads?

Pretty much anything Rush has done after the first Album. That first one was killer. After that, they pretty much lost me and their rock vibe.

WHAT? Dude, Alex Lifeson always gets amazing tones. Always.

Other than Cinamon Girl... pretty much everything from Neil Young....

Most of Mike McCready's (Pearl Jam) lead tone....

Slash's tone in general......

I wouldn't say they are "crappy" ... just not the tones I would ever chose....

I'd kill for the tone he had on "November Rain".

"Saint Elmo's Fire"? I'd rather be hung upside down by my toe nails.

I'd get intimate with a Grizzly before I listen to that song!

What do you mean man...according to Esteban that is "studio quality" whatever the hell that is!!!! Ha ha!!

By saying "studio quality" Esteban probably means the guitar is good enough to smash into splinters and use the splinters to stir your coffee in the studio! At least that's why I think he means. Could he mean something else.....?

Esteban is a pimp! For $99.50, a guitar with an amp and distortion.......come on you know better than that! His hat and sunglasses are worth more. HSN's best deal are the pots and pans! The 500 degree ones that nothing sticks to...I own a bunch and love them!

Hey Bill, you're a riot! With that hat and those glasses.....you're right, that's a pimp! I saw how he was checking out the broad on the show! I'll keep an eye out for the pots and pans! :)

Jimi Hendrix (ducks and takes cover).

Fact is I love Jimi but his overdriven strat

tone often just sucked. Especially live.

Still love to listen to him though.

Stevie Ray Vaugh as well. Sometimes

a good tone. Sometimes just crap.

Grr, Painkiller ... :) Ok, hmm, what was that band... Dragonforce! oh yeah, some people say their guitarists are very good but I just hate their sound, it's not playing at all... you know, just like radio when you try to search for the channels... hideous, yough! :)

Ah, tastes differ. I liked Cobain's sounds (um, Butch Vig's and Steve Albini's sounds) on Nevermind and In Utero. And loved Hendrix's sounds most of the time.

I've enver heard a distorted tone as thin and whiny as Reggie (sp) Wooten. If you see the Wooten Brothers you'll have fun, and they all have chops to spare, but he plays this Kramer into a Peavey practice amp and he either uses a broken speaker or some sort of rig with bumblebees in a tin can for his distortion. Amazing.

i'm gonna disagree w/ BOTH of y'all on alex lifeson;

his tone is good to great on ALL the 70's stuff,

but when he switched to stratoids and soilid state amps

sometime after "signals", his tone got sucky. i lost interest

around then, but i noticed that his tone on the

"rush in rio" dvd is good, tho.

here's one that truly sucks; mark farner from grand funk.

i like most of grand funk's tunes and singing, but his tone, ewwwww.

tony iommi's tone went from good to shite between

"sabbath bloody sabbath" (good to great)

and "sabotage" (raspy thin, too much gain),

and sucked up 'til his switch to marshalls and mesas

on "heaven & hell". i lost interest after "mob rules".

Another crappy tone I came to think

of is Eric Clapton's participation on THE LAST WALTZ

with the Band.

Robbie has great tone and so does everyone

else that comes up on that stage. Then - Enter Eric.

WTF, talk about a lousy guitar tone. Total crap.

No punch, no nothing. It's so embarassing and lame

i can´t watch that part of the film. Always skip that song.
